Winter Treehouse Holiday at Granö Beckasin

The Ume River - one of Northern Europe’s great waterways - divides in two at the small island of Granö in Swedish Lapland. Hidden amongst the wildlife-dense forests of the island are six bird’s nest tree houses - all of them overlooking the river. Part homage to one man’s love of birdlife and part desire to create a unique retreat in the canopy, Granö Beckasin is a luxury and small-scale forest holiday experience. This eco-friendly winter holiday immerses guests into nature whilst giving them the chance to taste Lapland’s rich food source and to experience snow based adventures.

5/5

We had the most amazing time, we were very happy with Magnetic Norths communications. Everything run so smoothly.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? It was very early in the winter season when I went, so there weren't many other guests. There also wasn't enough snow to do some of the activities, but the staff were really friendly and took excellent care of me. They organised alternative activities and even took me around the husky kennels to meet the dogs and have a quick go on a sledge desfpitethe snow not being deep enough in the forest to do a proper trip. The birds nest was wonderful - the views over the lake are stunning. And the food was absolutely delicious. 2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Don't be afraid to talk to the staff about what you want to get out of your time there. They were able to help me go see concerts at the local church and visit an animal park in Lycksele, none of which was pre-arranged, but really made my holiday special. Some of the hiking trails around the lake are a little precarious in the snow, so be careful, but definitely give them a go. They are well marked through the forest and worth the effort for the views and the feeling of being in Narnia. 3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? If you spend any time talking to the staff you discover just how integral Granö Beckasin is to the local community. All of the staff are locals, the food is locally sourced and all the activities are run through local companies. It's really nice to see a community come together and take pride in what they do. 4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? I loved my time in Granö. I needed to get away from the city and relax, which is exactly what I did. I was travelling alone, but the staff were so friendly that I never felt like I had to be alone if I didn't want to be. I would definitely recommend it there if you like peace and beautiful countryside and good food. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? **** Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend
