The team at Magnetic North Travel has won Britain’s most coveted commercial prize, the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2018. The Award, to be announced today by Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of her 92nd birthday, is in recognition of the Magnetic North Travel’s high growth in international sales over the last three years.

“Winning a Queen’s Award is fantastic recognition for the hard work of the whole team here at Magnetic North Travel. We are all absolutely thrilled that our success has received such a high accolade.”

-Laura Greenman, founder of Magnetic North Travel

Magnetic North Travel, founded in 2009, has been pursuing an international business strategy since launch day. Our first booking from an Australian client was an early sign of the company’s global future. In the following years, clients from USA, Malaysia, Australia and Singapore joined tailor-made adventures in the Nordic Countries and Canada.

As a company ‘born global’ a strong online presence has always been at the heart of the company’s business strategy. Almost a quarter of the company’s initial investment capital was spent on the company website to enable direct sales and operating the company on a 24/7 basis to ensure booking made from outside of the UK received responses appropriate to a customer’s time zone.

“We have a dedicated team that works tirelessly to provide the best holiday experiences possible for those who travel with us. The team uses its expertise and in-depth destination knowledge to create tailor-made holidays that are truly unique for our customers – and our use of technology means we can be responsive to customer queries from around the world at times that suit our potential clients rather than ourselves.”

-Laura Greenman, founder of Magnetic North Travel

As an online business going beyond a mere presence has been crucial- we hardly have face-to-face contact with our clients but take pride in the intimate relationships we build during the sales process. Aside from a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness, tools like Skype, WhatsApp, Google Chat and Facebook messaging help us build and maintain those relationships. Given that in 2016/17 international clients exceeded UK clients for the very first time we aim to further invest in the global nature of our business.

For now, Laura Greenman and Magnetic North Travel’s longest-serving employee, Angela Hewitt, are looking forward to traveling to Buckingham Palace on 28th June to receive the award from Prince Charles. A milestone the entire team is very much looking forward to!
