Winter Adventures for All

Downhill Skiing and Multi Activity Winter Adventure in Beitostolen

Family friendly downhill skiing combined with a multitude of winter adventures await at the Norwegian resort of Beitostolen, hidden next to the Jotunheimen National Park. The altitudes reach 900 metres here so the snow conditions are often superb offering beautiful fresh powder slopes amid expansive mountain vistas. Our bespoke ski packages are aimed to please the skiers, and non-skiers alike within the group. That translates to high standard accommodation mixed with spa, winter adventures and a great resort set up where local hikes are possible along with plenty of options for eating and drinking.

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Day 1:

Arrival to Oslo Airport, where you can hop on the shuttle train to Oslo Central to take the ski bus to Beitostolen. The drive to Norway's Valdres region will take between 3 to 4 hours and gradually gains in altitude as you pass fjord and mountain scenery. It's also possible for us to arrange car rental if you would like to self-drive or a private transfer for ultimate comfort.

On arrival at Beitostolen, immerse yourself in a true alpine fairy tale setting. The village itself contains everything you need from buzzing bars and cosy cafes for a hot chocolate through to a range of great restaurants, hotel swimming pool and two well stocked grocery stores. You’ll immediately feel relaxed by the pace and space of this resort which welcomes locals and visitors alike throughout the season.

Your accommodation will be either an out of town chalet - spacious with huge panoramic views, or a smaller ski-in-out apartment, also with great views and benefiting from proximity to the slopes and ski lifts. You’ll need a car rental to stay in one of the larger chalets.

You will stay on a self-catering basis but we’ll give you the lowdown on where’s great to eat should you wish to.

Day 2:

Today the skiers will get equipped with skis and snowboards before hitting the slopes. The nursery slopes are ideal for beginners and we’ll match you with a fantastic ski school instructor to help you on your way. Ski passes, rental and ski school will be arranged in advance and are an additional cost depending on the number of participants.

For the non-skiers, the resort beckons along with a relaxing wilderness spa experience. You’ll transfer to a nearby frozen lake where a hole in the ice invites brave spa goers to enjoy a bracing immersion. You’ll warm up in the hot tub and sauna whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly and local snacks and chocolates.

In the evening, everyone can join together to share their adventures.

Day 3:

Today is a full day on the slopes or a husky sledding adventure. You’ll drive to the husky farm, where you’ll meet a small pack of friendly and excited husky dogs waiting for their excursion on the frozen lake. You’ll help harness your team of dogs and drive in pairs out onto the snowy lake. Passengers will enjoy the view while drivers will work with their team of huskies to steer a course over the frozen expanse. After the adventure you’ll enjoy a warming cup of berry juice in the lavvo cabin before returning to the resort.

You’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy the ski slopes, or perhaps swap downhill skis for cross country skiing. There’s over 320 km (250 miles) of Nordic ski trails to enjoy. If you wish we can arrange a private guide to lead the way.

Day 4:

Today you’ll have the opportunity to experience something out of the ordinary: snow rafting. This innovation was born in Beitostolen when one man dared to dream that an inflatable raft could be put to use in the winter season when launched down a prepared track filled with adrenaline-seeking participants. The raft is guided by a snowmobile and twists and turns as it takes on the 450 metre track to the foot of the piste.

For those looking for a more gentle adventure can choose between a guided snow shoe hike or an ice fishing experience. Explore woodland trails by snow shoe with some gentle rolling hills to climb and descend. Ice fishing takes place on the frozen lake Øyangen.

Day 5:

Enjoy the day at leisure enjoying the downhill ski slopes or the facilities of the resort. If you wish we can arrange an additional winter adventure to tailor your trip.

Day 6:

Today you’ll check out of your accommodation and return to the airport in time for your departing flight. If you’d like to extend your stay, our team will be happy to tailor your trip accordingly.

Please contact us for family pricing, as children will travel at a reduced cost.
