Situated over an hour away from Norway’s main Arctic city of Tromso, Malangen Resort is the ideal destination to experience a Northern Lights winter break in Northern Norway. It has a wonderful location on the banks of the Malangenfjord with stunning views of the fjord and snow capped mountains in the distance with its very own wilderness camp nearby, for evenings gazing into the clear skies for aurora watching. The main hotel comprises the reception and lounge area, large restaurant with views overlooking the fjord, the aurora lounge with wi-fi, fitness room and base from where the activities are taken from. It has a bustling, yet relaxed atmosphere, an enjoyable place to have a drink before the evening meal.
Sleep Well
All the accommodation options are modern and stylish with a Scandinavian design. In addition to the hotel standard and premium rooms which are located in the main hotel building, there are waterfront apartments, standard sea view and waterfront cabins and premium sea view and waterfront cabins, perfect for families and friends. All types benefit from wonderful fjord views, with some right on the waterfront. The cabins offer plenty of space for couples and a great option for families. However, please note the cabins do not have wi-fi access and the apartments have limited access.
Eat Well
All meals are served in the hotel’s restaurant, the menu inspired by traditional northern Norwegian cuisine using local, seasonal ingredients.
Play Well
There is a wide range of activities available to pre-book and include a Northern Lights Watch, Dog Sledding, Sami Storytelling and Reindeer feeding, Snowmobile Experience, Day-time Snowshoe Trek, Northern Lights Snowshoeing and Nordic Skiing. All the activities include a guide, winter clothing and a light snack and hot drink.
Be Well
Included in your stay is use of the communal sauna facilities during a morning early session. Outside of these hours it is possible to book a private one hour session. The hotel also has a jacuzzi which can be booked for private use along with the sauna. Both of these options are subject to availability and at an additional charge. For the more active, the hotel has a fitness room which guests can use.
