Onga Wilderness Lodge
Traditional Wooden Cabins
Onga Lodge was formerly a traditional mountain lodge and has recently gone through extensive renovations, improving the facilities throughout. It comprises several wooden cabins and offers a very comfortable and friendly stay for guests. With a remote location set in the forest, you are surrounded by the beautiful arctic nature and with no light pollution, hopefully the northern lights too! There is an Aurora Dome which is set away from the main lodge and open for all guests to keep warm and cosy while waiting for the aurora to appear.
Sleep Well
The lodge has 7 very comfortable standard rooms and 2 superior rooms, one with a private sauna, the other with a log burner. All rooms are en suite in Scandinavian design using natural materials. There is also an Aurora Pod with clear views to the sky, where guests can stay overnight and keep watch for the elusive aurora. This is available at an additional charge.
Eat Well
The small dining area is the perfect place to enjoy a range of wonderful dishes using modern techniques and high quality local ingredients to deliver a memorable dining experience. Lunch is a 2-course meal and dinner 3-courses.
Play Well
Winter activities are available at the lodge and include a Guided Aurora snowshoe walk (2 hours), daytime guided snowshoe tour (2 hours), Dog-sledding (2 hours), Dog-sledding trip with lunch (5 hours), Snowmobile safari (2 hours), visit Alta Museum, Sorrisniva Ice Hotel and Alta town (3.5 hours) and a Horse sleigh ride (2 hours).
Be Well
Spend time in this beautiful location and enjoy the arctic surroundings. Afterwards, warm up in the Sauna which can be pre-booked for an additional charge.
