Wilderness Hotel

Located in the Asgarour Valley at the edge of Kerlingarfjoll mountain range, Highland Base hotel is a sanctuary of warm comfort, hearty cooking and geothermal bathing, a place to relax and recharge in the heart of a wilderness environment. The hotel opened in 2023 and offers a range of accommodation options suitable for everyone from the simple traveller to the lavish explorer and is the base for unforgettable adventures into the Highlands area and a remote location for spotting the northern lights during the winter season.

 

Sleep Well

The hotel comprises a 28 room hotel with Deluxe rooms and Suites, a 20 room hostel with Standard rooms, 6 private lodges, 7 summer huts and a campsite open in the summer. All the hostel, hotel and Lodges are furnished to a high standard and range from 18m2 up to 44m2, some with a sofa bed suitable for children.

 

Eat Well

The 80 seat restaurant combines hearty cooking and culinary excellence. It offers bistro comfort food during the day and buffet dining by night in the summer months, while in wintertime, dinners are a la carte.

 

Play Well

Kerlingarfjoll is an adventure playground all year round. With hikes for all abilities ranging from short walks to full-day treks, e-biking, skiing and snowmobiling taking you deep into the wilderness, Highland Base offers thrilling activities for everyone.

 

Be Well

Opening in early 2024, the hotel includes use of its hot spring baths for hotel guests. The three interconnected pools, sourced from the Hveradalir hot springs bring deep relaxation under the arctic sky.
