WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Day 1

Welcome to Reykjavik, the lively capital of Iceland, where your adventure begins. After settling in, start your exploration with a stroll down Laugavegur, the city's main shopping street, known for its unique boutiques, cosy cafes, and vibrant street art. As you wander, take the opportunity to sample local delicacies like traditional lamb soup or fresh seafood. Next, visit the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church, where the observation tower offers stunning panoramic views of the colourful cityscape against a backdrop of mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.

As evening falls, enjoy a meal in one of Reykjavik’s renowned restaurants, enjoy the innovative Nordic cuisine or a comforting local dish. Finish your day with a relaxing walk along the waterfront, admiring the modern architecture of Harpa Concert Hall, or explore Reykjavik’s lively nightlife. With the city's charm setting the tone, you're perfectly primed for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 2

Meet in Reykjavik at 10:00 AM, where your guide will pick you up from your hotel or preferred location to begin your adventure.

We'll start by exploring Iceland’s famous Golden Circle, visiting iconic sites like Gullfoss Waterfall, with its stunning double cascade, the Geysir Geothermal Area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes, and Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site that lies between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

For lunch, we'll visit Friðheimar, a farm known for its sustainable greenhouse farming, where you’ll enjoy delicious tomato-based dishes. We'll also stop by a Geothermal Bakery to bake and taste fresh Icelandic bread, a unique tradition.

In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive at Midgard Base Camp for a briefing on the upcoming adventures. Enjoy dinner at the top-rated Midgard Restaurant, followed by a relaxing soak in the rooftop hot tub and sauna while waiting for the Northern Lights. The Midgard team will keep you informed on the forecast, and if conditions are right, we may head out on a guided Northern Lights tour.

You'll spend the night at Midgard Base Camp, a cozy accommodation with an adventure vibe.

Day 3

Start your day with a delicious Icelandic breakfast buffet at Midgard Restaurant before heading to Vík to explore the breathtaking Katla Ice Caves. This new addition to our itinerary offers a rare and unforgettable experience, showcasing Iceland’s glacial beauty and volcanic landscapes. For lunch, your guide will take you to a favourite local spot along the South Coast. Afterwards, visit the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its volcanic sand, basalt columns, and powerful waves. If time permits, we’ll explore additional South Coast sites before returning to Midgard Base Camp.

After the tour, consider visiting the nearby LAVA Centre (Optional and not included), a world-class exhibition on volcanoes and earthquakes, just a 10-minute walk from Midgard Base Camp.

In the evening, gather at Midgard Restaurant for a flavorful dinner, followed by Northern Lights viewing, weather permitting. The Midgard team will keep you updated on the forecast. End the day with a restful night at Midgard Base Camp.

Day 4

Start your day with a hearty Icelandic breakfast at Midgard Restaurant before heading out on an adventure to Þórsmörk Mountain Reserve, a hidden gem that most travellers miss. In our modified 4×4 Super Jeeps, we’ll cross glacial rivers to reach this breathtaking valley of Thor, featuring volcanic landscapes, glaciers, and rich folklore. We’ll explore these rugged terrains with short hikes tailored to the group’s preferences, offering a unique glimpse into Iceland’s wild interior. Enjoy a delicious lunchbox from Midgard Restaurant amidst the stunning wilderness of Þórsmörk.

Experience authentic Icelandic hospitality with a visit to a local home, a unique experience offered only by Midgard. Optional: Relax like a local at the nearby swimming pool, just a 7-minute walk from Midgard, complete with an outdoor pool, hot tubs, and a sauna. For dinner, enjoy the renowned traditional Icelandic lamb, or opt for vegan and vegetarian dishes. If the weather permits, enjoy a magical Northern Lights viewing, with updates provided by the Midgard team. End the day with a peaceful night’s rest at Midgard Base Camp, nestled in the quiet countryside.

Day 5

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Midgard Base Camp before embarking on your final adventure at Sólheimajökull Glacier. This glacier ice walk offers a unique opportunity to explore stunning ice formations, deep crevasses, and striking blue ice up close. Your professional Midgard guide will provide insights into the glacier’s formation, volcanic activity, and climate change. No prior experience is needed, as a safety briefing will ensure everyone's well-being. You'll also visit the serene glacier lagoon at the base of Sólheimajökull, where tranquil waters reflect the glacier's beauty, making it a perfect spot for photography and reflection.

Next, we’ll visit two iconic South Coast waterfalls: Skógafoss, with its impressive 60-meter drop and misty rainbows, and Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the waterfall for a breathtaking view, depending on safety conditions. We’ll also explore the hidden gem, Gljúfrabúi Waterfall, a lesser-known but equally stunning cascade.

As the day concludes, we’ll return to Reykjavík, giving you time to reflect on the unforgettable experiences and lasting memories from our adventure. The expected arrival in Reykjavik is late afternoon.

Day 6

As your Icelandic adventure comes to an end, spend your final morning soaking up the last moments in Reykjavik. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at a local café, perhaps indulging in some freshly baked pastries. If time permits, take a final stroll along the waterfront or visit any spots you might have missed, like a local art gallery or the charming Old Harbour area. When the time comes, your transfer will collect you, taking you through the beautiful Icelandic landscape one last time as you head to the airport.

From £2,300 per person (excluding flights), based on two sharing with 2 nights in Reykjavik at Alda Hotel (on a Breakfast Basis) and 3 nights at Midgard Adventure Base Camp (on a Full Board Basis), all transfers, and excursions are included.
