Retreat at Blue Lagoon

Luxury Spa Break at the Retreat at Blue Lagoon

Iceland’s Blue Lagoon rose from the ashes of century’s old lava flow, its milky waters heated by the earth’s geothermal energy. Bathers soon travelled from afar to soak in its mineral-rich water surrounded by endless moss-covered lava fields. Well-being worshipers are now encouraged to stay longer by checking into the Retreat at Blue Lagoon - a luxury spa resort next to the Lagoon itself. With its own extensive spa facility, private lagoon and culinary offer, the Retreat provides a quiet sanctuary on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula. Enjoy watching a terrain alive with activity with its fissures, mud pools, craters and hot springs whilst you relax in your luxury suite. This short break can be extended to visit other areas of Iceland and upscale hotels on a self-drive tour or private guided holiday.

DAY 2:

Start the day with a healthy a la carte breakfast in the Retreat restaurant before your day of relaxation and regeneration.

You are invited to experience the Retreat spa carved into 800 year old lava flow. Rocky lava walls create secluded subterranean corridors opening up to mineral-rich lagoons and spa experiences. Bathe in the Cold Well - an invigorating flow of cold air, or enter a chamber formed of lava rock to enjoy purifying steam heat before relaxing in a nest chair or visiting the dry heat of the sauna. The spa ritual follows an underground realm of interconnected chambers using the three natural riches of geothermal seawater for rejuvenation: silica, algae, and minerals. For complete privacy, you can also pre-book the Lava Cove complete with its own private lagoon and host.

DAY 3:

After a leisurely breakfast, it’s time to leave the Retreat, refreshed in mind and body. Our team will help you to extend your holiday in Iceland with additional nights at the retreat, excursions or a continuation with your holiday elsewhere in Iceland. Why not visit the capital city Reykjavik or enjoy a self-drive tour of Iceland’s magical south coast.
