Nestled in the Cariboo Mountains is Pyna-tee-ah Lodge where you will join Gary Zorn; better known as the ‘Bear Whisperer’. Gary has devoted his life to studying the social hierarchy, habits, habitat and body language of these creatures. Get up close and personal with wild animals such as moose, caribou, wolves and birds of prey, ideal for photography and just experiencing nature in its rawest form. This trip allows you an authentic opportunity to view grizzly bears in the pristine wilderness whilst under the safe guidance of someone who has immense passion and respect for these powerful animals.

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

DAY ONE:

Arrive at Pyna-tee-ah Lodge by 3 for an orientation covering bear awareness, equipment, expectations and safety. Holding the first bear viewing licence ever issued in British Columbia the lodge prides itself on providing a unique, respectful and safe bear viewing programme, following the bears through the seasons – spring, summer and fall. Following an informative discussion about these magnificent animals with Gary, the Bear Whisperer, settle in for the first of your freshly prepared, homely meals at the rustic Canadian lodge.

DAY TWO:

After an early hearty breakfast, join the Bear Whisperer for your first unique bear viewing experience, listening to engaging and often humorous bear stories. Learn about these magnificent animals from someone who exudes a true passion and respect for what he does. This truly thrilling Canadian wilderness adventure is not simply a grizzly bear viewing trip, it’s an intimate experience with nature. Safety whilst viewing the bears is the lodge’s number one priority, allowing guests to relax and experience the unique wildlife at close proximity.

Experience the microclimate of Quesnel Lake, the deepest fjord lake on earth, with local expert guides, learning about the biology, botany and ornithology. With the sun rising over the snowcapped peaks of the Cariboo Mountains enjoy the dazzling array of colours from the pristine forest.

Return to the lodge this evening to rest after an exciting day in the wilderness. Choose to relax in the gazebo overlooking the landscaped gardens or in the warmth of the great room, heated by a roaring fire.

DAY THREE:

Awake to a fresh forest morning and another fabulous day of viewing the bears, travelling either on the rivers by jet boat watching the mighty animal enjoying a freshly caught salmon or walking along high grassy mountain ridges finding bear tracks. An experience you will remember and treasure forever. With over 30 years of experience Gary maintains a constant and vigilant respect for these wild, free animals. Journey upstream along the river by jet boat before floating back in undisturbed silence, experience the wildlife in its natural outstanding beauty. Observe the intelligent and playful bears forage for food and play fight in their natural habitat, acknowledging that we are only visitors to their wild surroundings.

Visit the amazing blue-green glacial waters of the Cariboo River that cut a rugged path of waterfalls and rapids through steep boulder strewn canyons. This pristine river hosts the Chinook Salmon, the favourite meal of the grizzly bear. This delicate eco-system also supports the vital habitat of further wildlife including the moose, waterfowl, caribou and wolves. This high adrenaline trip allows you a rare opportunity to walk among some of Canada’s most revered wildlife.

DAY FOUR:
