Sitting alone in the mid-Atlantic, the Faroe Islands offer travellers a unique and untamed land to explore. With a maritime climate and changeable weather, chances are you’ll see the islands in many different lights during a week-long adventure. This holiday uses the capital city as a base from where you’ll venture off on day trips to all corners of the archipelago. It is perfect for the first-time visitor to the Faroe Islands and does not require car hire. We’ll take care of all the tour arrangements with knowledgeable local guides.  You’ll travel independently joining other guests for daytrips. Weekly departures are available every Monday between June and August.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

DAY 1:

Arrival to Vágar Airport where a taxi shuttle will wait for you and take you directly to your hotel in Tórshavn. You’ll enjoy a scenic transfer across the islands of Vagar to Eysturoy and eventually arrive to Streymoy. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to settle in to your centrally located three-star hotel.

DAY 2:

Today you will join a tour heading to the stunning and remote northern islands of the Faroes. The landscapes are characterized by steep mountainsides rising up sharply from the sea offering spectacular views of the outlying islands Fugloy, Svínoy, Borðoy and Kunoy. You’ll visit the Christian Church in Klaksvík and the Viking settlements in Leirvík before returning to Torshavn in the evening.

DAY 3:

Today your tour will head in a westerly direction to Mykines, the westernmost island of the Faroes. Mykines is known for its rich bird life, jagged mountains and the fantastic hike to the Mykines-islet. Meet the impressive Gannet and see puffins up close. The tour is guided until the ferry departure and you will have the opportunity to hike for around six hours independently before returning to the tour bus.

DAY 4:

Today you’ll depart for a cruise at sea following closely the coastlines of the islands near to Torshavn, Nólsoy or Hestur. From the schooner boat enjoy the view of cliffs rising from the sea. You'll also have the chance to observe birds, seals and whales.

DAYS 5 & 6

Two full days are set aside for exploring Torshavn on your own. We’ll help you to make the most of your stay in Torshavn with our recommendations for places to eat and visit in the town. Take a stroll through Tórshavn visiting the old part of town - Tinganes and úti á Reyni, the Art Museum and the Nordic House. The capital also offers a bustling city life with a good selection of cafés, restaurants and shopping opportunities.

DAY 7:

Your final day in the Faroe Islands will be to the unspoilt island of Sandoy. You’ll experience a traditional Faroese lifestyle as well as a further opportunity to spot birdlife including puffin colonies. You’ll visit an ancient church and learn about the sagas that have steeped this island in historical and cultural significance.

Enjoy your final evening in Torshavn.

DAY 8:

On the final day of your holiday, the taxi shuttle will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to the airport in time for your flight departure.
