WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Day 1 Canada Eh

Welcome to Canada and the city of Calgary, the gateway to the Rockies. After a long flight spend an evening relaxing in your airport hotel or head downtown to sample some good old western hospitality.

Day 2-3 Banff

Collect your hire car and make the scenic drive into Banff national park, where there is the possibility of spotting wildlife on the side of the highway. Banff and Lake Louise have a rich heritage as some of the world's most awe-inspiring mountain destinations. With easy access to pristine wilderness, endless outdoor adventures, jaw-dropping sights, and a vibrant history and culture, there is a lifetime's worth of things to see and do. If you desire the unforgettable bird's eye views of Banff, then take a seat and soar into the alpine in a gondola. On a clear day, taking a gondola is a great activity. Once up top, savour the sweeping vistas, explore the many hiking opportunities, or relax with a meal on the roof of the Rockies. No visit to Banff is complete without some true western fun. Saddle up your horse and join a gentle ride through the spectacular scenery, before savouring a delicious outdoor BBQ. Banff National Park is of course a haven of outdoor adventures such as Stand up Paddle Boarding, canoeing or kayaking and hiking.

Day 4-5 Lake Louise

Today make the short drive from Banff to Lake Louise, home of possibly the most photographed lake in the world. Rounding the corner, the sight of the emerald green water and rugged peaks and glaciers hits you viscerally. You've never seen anything so dramatically beautiful. Late in the day, with the glowing sun dropping behind Mount Victoria, it is quiet and still. As you wander around the lakeside path it seems like the whole scene is for just you to enjoy. Hidden spots and total serenity can be found just beyond the lake's edge. Enjoy the time hiking and canoeing Lake Louise and gather memories that will stay with you forever.

Day 6-7 Moraine Lake

Head deeper into the national park and make the 1.5 hour drive to Moraine Lake, your home for the next couple of nights. Set in the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and rock piles, creating a scene so stunning it almost seems unreal. Sit lakeside and absorb the sights and pure mountain air, or explore further by canoeing and hiking. It's an incredibly jaw-dropping place that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Day 8 Fly to Vancouver

Time to leave the majesty of the Rockies behind and make the picturesque drive back to Calgary one last time. Return your hire car and join your flight across the heart of British Columbia to the coastal city of Vancouver.

Day 9-11 Sonora Resort

Prepare yourself for something special, as you climb aboard a helicopter for a breathtaking flight to the southern tip of the Great Bear Rainforest, seven million hectares of spectacular inlets etched by glaciers, untouched old growth forest, and thriving wildlife. Sonora Island is the jewel in the crown of this coastal paradise, a quiet escape to natural beauty and the recreational experience of a lifetime. Sonora Resort is made up of a series of intimate lodges and offers gourmet dining, world class eco-adventure tours, kayaking, grizzly bear tours, rafting adventures, helicopter glacier tours, ocean fishing, fly-fishing, archery, cooking classes, walking and boating tours and has a full spa with mineral pools.

Day 12-14 Tyax resort

Time for a period of contrast as you depart the coastal waters and head inland to the heart of the British Columbia back country, travelling by floatplane, the work horse of the bush. Set on the shores of Tyaughton Lake and surrounded by mountains, Tyax Lodge offers luxury accommodation and access to BC's great wilderness. Activities on offer include wild swimming, horse riding, hiking and sailing. You'll have unlimited use of Canadian canoes - perfect for early morning wildlife spotting. Bears, eagles and beavers are in residence nearby. At the end of active days, the lodge's full service spa beckons with its outdoor hot tub, dry sauna and yoga studio. The pristine waters of the North Pacific provide the lodge with fresh seafood along with locally sourced vegetables and fruit. The lodge's menu uses many foraged ingredients that are harvested daily by the culinary team within sight of the lodge along with its kitchen garden.

Day 15-17 Vancouver

Arrive in the centre of the downtown core of Vancouver, as your float plane lands on the waters of the harbour, where cruise ships and pleasure craft share gentle waters. The cosmopolitan city of Vancouver has so many places to visit and enjoy, you may have to come back again. Walk, run or cycle the 9.3 km circuit around the seawall of Stanley park or explore its varied interior, visit the aquarium and marvel at the beautiful first nation totem poles. Wander through varied neighbourhoods or spend time at Granville Island, where the public market is open 365 days a year. Cruise the varied produce on offer or just enjoy a coffee and croissant at a cafe overlooking the stunning Vancouver skyline. For a real hands on experience, head to Grouse Mountain, a true four season attraction. Test your nerve on the new ropes course, experience the lumberjack show and marvel at sensational views of the city below.

Day 18-19 Whistler

Jump in your hire car and marvel at the view as you make the two-hour drive from downtown Vancouver to Whistler, climbing up the spectacular Sea-to-Sky highway via Horseshoe Bay, Britannia Beach and Squamish. But this is not two hours to be passed by with in car karaoke and I-spy, along the route there are a number of opportunities to leave the car behind and feast on the delights of this road trip. Visit the Sea-to-sky gondola or natural wonders like the Shannon falls or Brandywine falls. Although acclaimed for its winter attractions, Whistler is a year-round destination, with festivals, activities and fun for every season. A visit to the resort in the summer is the perfect time to try mountain biking, play 18-holes on one of Whistler’s four golf courses, hike the many mountain trails, and enjoy al fresco dining. If you have a head for heights, ride the record breaking peak-2-peak gondola, which connects the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, offering spectacular views of the alpine below. If you have a need for speed, join a zipline tour. Here you will glide over spectacular creeks and through majestic old-growth trees on an exhilarating high wire adventure – no experience required! If you don’t wish to drive, we can also arrange float plane flights from Vancouver to Whistler.

Day 20 Tofino

Descend from the mountain peaks back to coastal waters for a short crossing over the Strait of Georgia, to Vancouver island. Many visitors head to the capital city of Victoria but we prefer the Pacific coastal town of Tofino. Come rain or shine, storm or sunshine this fabulous town has a vibe all of its own. Take a surf lesson in the rolling waves, master a yoga class on wide sandy beaches or wander through ancient forests. When you have built up a hunger there are a wealth of independent restaurants, cafes, brewers, bakers and grocers to frequent.

Day 21 Heading Home

Today maybe your last day but it is still a day of memories as you make you way back across Vancouver island, through areas of natural beauty. Once more crossing the Georgia strait, before making your way to Vancouver international airport for your onward journey.
