Join this self-guided cycling trip around Lake Vattern in the region of Smaland in southern Sweden, where you’ll travel off the beaten track and away from the crowds on hidden paths, exploring beautiful places and experiencing nature, culture and history on this week-long adventure.

The tour starts and ends in the historic town of Jonkoping on the southern shores of the lake, first heading up the west coast passing through nature reserves, charming wooden villages and picturesque towns with many castles, attractions and the Gota Canal on route. With traditional accommodation, all meals, equipment, luggage transportation and digital maps all included, this is a leisurely journey from start to finish and a wonderful opportunity to explore this relatively unknown area of Sweden. 

With 6 days of cycling and up to 80 km per day, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended, but previous long distance cycling experience is not essential.

Explore the beautiful Baltics on a small group cycling tour, travelling through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - visit the three capital cities with their Old Towns, experience the unique Curonian Spit and explore the largest and most beautiful Estonian island of Saaremaa.

There are so many wonderful places to see and attractions to visit along the journey, and what better way than cycling along the quiet roads offering breathtaking views through coastal towns, rural landscapes and National Parks, with guided city walking tours, entry to some museums and learning about the different cultures and traditions included.

The eleven day trip has a maximum group size of 16 and combines a mix of cycling every day with transportation by coach to maximise the distances across all three of the Baltic countries. The terrain is varied with a few gradual hills, but mostly the route is easy going, with cycling between 25 and 58 km each day with luggage transportation provided. And in case you’re worried about keeping up with the pace, it is also possible to upgrade to an e-bike, allowing you time to admire the scenery while catching your breath.

The base for this five day trip is a charming small hotel. From here you’ll hike through untouched forests to a lake with your own private cabin for a couple of days - paddle in a canoe, take a dip from your veranda and warm up in the sauna while enjoying beautiful panoramic views.   

Combine time in the cabin away from civilisation with the hospitality of the hotel, and with all your needs catered for throughout the stay you’ll enjoy a magical experience seeking adventure and tranquility.

Let us take you on a magical journey following the life, childhood and stories by author Tove Jansson, the creator of Finland’s most famous cartoon characters, the Moomin’s. Travel to some of Finland’s most beautiful locations, including its capital, Helsinki, then on to Tampere and heading further east to ‘Saaristo’, the Turku Archipelago, visiting the medieval town of Turku and the seaside resort Naantali. 

During the trip you’ll be inspired by Tove’s work - taking inspiration from the many places that she visited and spent time, walking through the streets in Helsinki, where Tove was born and the district of Katajanokka, the area where Tove was raised as a child. Then on to Tampere to explore the unique Moomin Museum and finally to Naantali, the home of Moominworld, a fairytale theme park based on the books by Tove Jansson.

Not only can you enjoy the works and places associated with Tove and her creations, but you can also be inspired by the beautiful cities and coastal towns along the way, visiting  some wonderful and historical places in Finland.

You’ll stay in two high quality 5* hotels in both cities, travelling between them in a comfortable lounge onboard a modern ferry and transferred by private transfers throughout. We have also included a Tallinn Old Town walking tour through medieval cobbled streets and tasting some local food.

With both cities easily accessible by foot, we highly recommend guests to take advantage of the Helsinki and Tallinn Cards, which give free access to many of the popular attractions, city tours and public transport, as well as discounts on other services. 

This city break is available all year round - enjoy the long daylight hours under the midnight sun or the fresh crisp air and Christmas markets in wintertime.
