Upon arrival in Whitehorse, collect your rental car and check in at your hotel. If time permits, take the opportunity to explore Yukon’s capital, a city shaped by the Klondike Gold Rush and rich Indigenous heritage. Perhaps visit the SS Klondike, a historic sternwheeler that once carried goods and passengers along the Yukon River, or stop by the Log Skyscraper and the Old Log Church Museum to glimpse Whitehorse’s unique architectural history. In the evening, dine at one of Whitehorse’s cosy local restaurants before resting up for your adventure ahead.

Start the day with a guided canoe trip on the Yukon River, following the same waterways that gold prospectors once navigated. This four-hour journey takes you from Whitehorse to the confluence of the Takhini River and offers the chance to spot bald eagles perched on bluffs along the riverbanks. In the afternoon, take the short scenic drive south to the Tagish region and spend the evening relaxing by the lake or enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Wake up to the fresh mountain air and prepare for a thrilling morning in the wild. In the morning, a guided ATV tour will take you through forested trails and open landscapes, with stunning views of the Coast Mountains stretching into Alaska. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy. Take a walk along the lakeshore, rent a kayak, or simply relax in nature.

After breakfast, drive north towards Haines Junction, the gateway to Kluane National Park and an ideal base for adventure seekers exploring the region. Along the way, take in the towering mountain peaks and endless wilderness. Upon arrival, visit the Thechàl Dhâl Visitor Centre to learn about the park’s glaciers, wildlife, and First Nations culture. In the afternoon, set out on a half-day guided hike into the spectacular St. Elias Mountain Range.

Kluane National Park is part of the largest internationally protected area in the world, spanning Alaska, British Columbia and the Yukon. The park’s remoteness and vast landscapes ensures an authentic wilderness experience, and your included Interpretive Jeep Tour of the Alsek Valley is the perfect way to take in as much of it as possible. Wildlife thrives here and you may encounter grizzly bears, Dall sheep, moose, wolves, and golden eagles all living freely in their natural habitat. This is a day to fully immerse yourself in the stories, traditions and wild landscapes of the park.

This day is left open for you to enjoy more of Kluane’s remote wilderness at your own pace. Hike to Sheep Mountain, where Dall sheep can often be spotted grazing on the steep slopes, or embark on a guided fishing trip to a pristine glacier-fed lake. For those simply looking to relax, enjoy a slow morning taking in the views before heading out for a leisurely drive to scenic viewpoints in the park.
