ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

ITINERARY

Arriving in the Faroe Islands is a memorable experience, especially on a clear day when the view from the plane window is breathtaking. Once you land at Vágar airport, your rental car will be ready for collection. From there, you’ll drive to Tórshavn, crossing the subsea tunnel that connects Vágar to Streymoy. For a scenic journey, take the old mountain road towards Hotel Føroyar, offering stunning panoramic views along the way.

Upon arrival at Hotel Føroyar, the staff will welcome you at reception. Later in the evening, you'll have a reserved table at the hotel's restaurant, Ruts, where a delightful dinner awaits you

Hotel Foroyar

Hotel Foroyar

With its low profile, long lines and grass topped roofs which disappear into the surrounding landscape, Hotel Foroyar is a Faroe Islands landmark. The hotel is situated at the edge of Torshavn and many of the rooms have the same unique panoramic view over the capital Torshavn, the island Nolsoy and the North Atlantic Ocean. The hotel’s onsite Restaurant Gras is situated on the first floor of the hotel with fantastic panoramic views and offers international lunch and dinner buffets made with local produce. Guests have free access to the hotel’s fitness room and there is free parking. The local rugged landscape in the area around Hotel Foroyar is popular amongst hikers. Rooms are light with big windows and stylish design features.

We suggest spending the day exploring the capital and its attractions. You can visit the old town, the art gallery, and the National Museum. If you'd like to explore the city with a local guide, just let us know.

In the evening, a table will be ready for you at Ræst, a restaurant that honours the ancient Faroese fermentation tradition, combined with modern culinary creativity. Ræst offers an authentic Faroese dining experience, blending international fermented ingredients with a unique yet simple cooking style.

Today, you'll enjoy an authentic fishing experience aboard a traditional Faroese boat, sailing across fjords and villages, and soaking in the tranquillity of the sea. In the Atlantic waters, you're likely to catch fish such as cod, haddock, whiting, saithe, ling, and tusk.

After the fishing trip, you'll be welcomed into a local home for a three-course Faroese meal, with your catch of the day featured as part of the menu.

To round off your tour of the Faroe Islands, we recommend a drive north to explore some of the islands' most picturesque villages: Tjørnuvík, Gjógv, and Viðareiði.

Tjørnuvík boasts a stunning beach with breathtaking views of mountains, cliffs, and the iconic sea stacks "Risin & Kellingin." From there, cross the Atlantic Bridge to the charming village of Gjógv, named after the beautiful gorge that runs through it. Wander through the narrow streets, admire the old houses, and take in the views over the gorge. Next, head to Viðareiði, the northernmost village, known for its own unique charm. A stroll away from the village reveals views of the other northern islands: Svínoy, Fugloy, Kunoy, Kalsoy, and Borðoy.

In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at restaurant ROKS, the relaxed sister restaurant of KOKS. ROKS focuses on top-quality Faroese seafood, blending modern and classical cooking techniques with a playful approach to food and flavours, all delivered with professional and friendly service.

Your journey on these northern islands has come to an end, and we hope you've enjoyed everything they had to offer. Before heading to Vágar airport, we recommend exploring Vágar island by visiting the picturesque villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, which provide stunning views of the islet Tindhólmur and the island Mykines.
