Laura from Magnetic North Travel

If you choose one optional daytime excursion in this winter wonderland, let it be the "Taste of Reindeer Herder Day". What an experience this is! Such a beautiful moment when Petri, the reindeer herder, calls his herd and they all start to appear between the trees one by one. My daughter enjoyed feeding the reindeer and listening to Petri's stories.

Winter activity holiday in search of the Northern Lights Finland

5/5

I spent 8 days in Finland, 3 night in Helsinki and two in Korpikatano Hotel in MInesjarvi (Lapland). This holiday actually surpassed all my expectations. I was travelling on my own with my two boys aged 8 and 9 and we all had a blast. It was all well organised and the hotels were all fab, but the arctic wilderness hotel by the Minejarvi lake was best. The food was very healthy and tasty. The host, Anne, made an effort to explain what was typically Finnish. She cooked some scrumptious cakes for Easter too. The hosts were super friendly and it was a perfect location for the Northern lights hunt. We were given warm winter gear and we could use other equipment for toboganning, cross country skiing and snow shoeing any time we wanted. The other activities like dod sledding, ice fishing and the reindeer farm were all very fun. We were in a winter haven and we were lucky to see the northern lights, which made our trip even more special. Thank you to Kirsi for organising the perfect family winter holiday. We have gone back home with lots of memories to treasure. KIITOS.
