SUGGESTED ITINERARY

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

DAY 1:

Arrival in Longyearbyen and transfer to your accommodation at the Basecamp Trappers Hotel to begin your break in Svalbard.

If you have time you can join an Arctic adventure of your choosing or perhaps explore the town with our recommendations for places to visit and eat.

Optional adventures include husky sledding on wheels, guided hiking, guided sightseeing in Longyearbyen, fossil hunting, kayaking and full-day boat tour to the Russian settlements of Barentsburg and Pyramiden.

Staying at: Basecamp Hotel

DAY 2:

After breakfast, you'll be met by your guide who will give you a thorough briefing on your adventure by boat providing information about equipment, the day's route and clothing. Afterwards you'll transfer to the quay where your boat awaits.

During the two-hour trip you'll have a chance to view Spitsbergen wildlife such as Arctic seabirds, walruses, and sometimes even whale species and the elusive Polar Bear. You'll arrive at your accommodation in Isfjord Radio, situated about 90 km west from Longyearbyen at a secluded spot at Kap Linne. You'll spend the rest of the afternoon exploring this area before a three-course dinner is served in the evening.

After dinner relax and let the light of the Midnight Sun recharge your batteries as the rays fall on the surrounding mountains or perhaps bathe in the traditional sauna and enjoy a bracing dip into the refreshing waters waters of the Arctic Sea. Accommodation in double rooms at Isfjord Radio.

Staying at: Isfjord Radio Station

DAY 3:

After breakfast get ready to explore the Arctic wilderness. Today's hiking trip will take you eastwards giving you a different perspective of the island from land. Gaze into the horizon where the next land is the island of Greenland. During your hike, your local guide will bring to life the legacy of the trappers and miners who have inhabited the island for centuries. You'll explore the flora and perhaps even get a glimpse of some wildlife during the hike. With no trees, the views are truly panoramic.

Afterwards you'll return to the hotel for a 2-course lunch before boarding the boat and returning to Longyearbyen in the afternoon where you'll spend a night at the Basecamp Trappers Hotel.

DAY 4:

After breakfast at the hotel transfer back to the airport and begin your journey home or extend your stay with extra nights and adventures in Svalbard.
