Traditional Swedish Lodge Under the Northern Lights

Hidden away near the small village of Kangos in Swedish Lapland lies the cosy and friendly Lapland Guesthouse. Over the years it has been carefully crafted by the owners, and your hosts, Johan and Eva, who attend to your every need and welcome you into their home from home.

The accommodation comprises different room types, all unique and housed in cabins located around the main building, the hub for meeting, eating and having fun.

With a remote location, it has direct access to the open wilderness with frozen rivers, snow-clad forests and mountain slopes providing the adventure playground to enjoy memorable winter activities such as snowmobiling, dog-sledding and snowshoeing. Situated away from light pollution it is a great location to keep watch for the northern lights, especially from the river-side sauna and outdoor jacuzzi.

At Lapland Guesthouse you arrive as guests, and leave as friends. This is a very special place.

ITINERARY

On arrival at Kiruna Airport via Stockholm, you will be met and transferred through the Arctic wilderness to Lapland Guesthouse in the village of Kangos. The transfer takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet your hosts, Johan and Eva, and settle into your accommodation before enjoying a home-cooked three-course meal in the sociable dining area of the main lodge. During your stay, all meals are included, with some lunches taken outdoors during daytime activities. You will also receive winter clothing to use throughout your trip.

The cosy and welcoming atmosphere of the Guesthouse makes it a fantastic place to relax and unwind. Each of the rooms are comfortably furnished and the main lodge has a  sitting area with a log burner - you may find it hard to tear yourself away! But the wilderness setting invites you to take part in the winter adventures, a ‘must-do’ for any visitor to the arctic region.

There are different snowmobiling and dog-sledding safaris, as well as a selection of other activities available to pre-book. We have chosen to include in this 4 night trip the following activities, but if you wish to change any, our Sales team will be happy to discuss the options. The exact schedule of activities during your stay will be confirmed locally due to conditions.

Included Activities:

  • Dog-Sledding Tour (4 Hours) – Transfer 10 minutes to a local husky camp, where you'll receive instructions on how to drive your own team of huskies. Travelling in pairs, you’ll take turns as a driver and passenger, gliding through the snowy wilderness. The huskies start off excitable but soon settle into a rhythmic run. A stop is made for lunch around an open fire.

  • Snowmobiling Tour (4 Hours) – After a safety briefing and driving instructions, set off in pairs towards the Finnish border, covering approximately 32 km. Snowmobiling allows you to reach remote areas quickly, immersing you in the untouched Arctic landscape. Regular stops are made to swap drivers, and you’ll pause for lunch outdoors with hot drinks around an open fire.

  • Snowshoe Forest Trek (2 Hours) – Put on snowshoes, a traditional way to trek across deep snow, and venture into areas otherwise inaccessible by foot. This guided trek offers an opportunity to experience Arctic nature up close, learning about the landscape and wildlife. A stop is made for hot drinks and snacks.

  • Northern Lights Sled Tour (2 Hours) – After dinner, set off in a sled pulled behind the guide's snowmobile, heading away from light pollution in search of clear skies and the aurora borealis. This is a fantastic way to experience the Arctic night, with stops for photographs, hot drinks, and snacks along the way.

After breakfast, transfer back to Kiruna Airport for your onward journey.

If you’d like to extend your Swedish Lapland adventure, we offer a range of extension packages, including a stay at the original ICEHOTEL near Kiruna or a scenic train journey south to explore other stunning locations.
