Authentic Swedish Hospitality

Traditional Swedish Lodge Under the Northern Lights

Hidden away near the small village of Kangos in Swedish Lapland lies the cosy and friendly Lapland Guesthouse. Over the years it has been carefully crafted by the owners, and your hosts, Johan and Eva, who attend to your every need and welcome you into their home from home. The accommodation comprises different room types, all unique and housed in cabins located around the main building, the hub for meeting, eating and having fun.

With a remote location, it has direct access to the open wilderness with frozen rivers, snow-clad forests and mountain slopes providing the adventure playground to enjoy memorable winter activities such as snowmobiling, dog-sledding and snowshoeing. Situated away from light pollution it is a great location to keep watch for the northern lights, especially from the river-side sauna and outdoor jacuzzi.

At Lapland Guesthouse you arrive as guests, and leave as friends. This is a very special place.

Days 2-4:

The cosy and welcoming atmosphere of the Guesthouse makes it a fantastic place to relax and unwind. Each of the rooms are comfortably furnished and the main lodge has a sitting area with a log burner - you may find it hard to tear yourself away! But the wilderness setting invites you to take part in the winter adventures, a ‘must-do’ for any visitor to the arctic region.

There are different snowmobiling and dog-sledding safaris, as well as a selection of other activities available to pre-book. We have chosen to include in this 4 night trip the following activities, but if you wish to change any, our Sales team will be happy to discuss the options. The exact schedule of activities during your stay will be confirmed locally due to conditions.

Dog-sledding tour (4 hours) - transfer 10 minutes to the local Husky camp where you will receive instructions on how to drive your own team of huskies. Driving in pairs, one as a passenger, you take to the trails and take it in turns to drive the sled. The huskies are so excitable, but once you get going, they calm down and absolutely love running in the snowy wilderness. A stop is made for lunch around an open fire.

Days 2-4:

Snowmobiling tour (4 hours) - after safety information and driving instructions, you head off in pairs towards the Finnish border, driving a total distance of approximately 32 km. The beauty of snowmobiling is you can reach distant places easily and quickly through the snowy terrain, enjoying the untouched wilderness. Stops are made to change drivers and a lunch break outdoors with hot drinks around an open fire.

Snowshoe Forest trek (2 hours) - don the snowshoes, a traditional way to tread on the deep snow and make your way across areas otherwise inaccessible by foot. This is a great way to see the arctic nature up close, learning about the area and wildlife. A stop is made for hot drinks and snacks.

Northern Lights sled tour (2 hours) - after dinner you head off in a sled pulled behind the guide's snowmobile in search of clear skies and the elusive aurora borealis. Getting away from light pollution increases the viewing potential and this is a great way to enjoy the arctic nature under the cover of darkness. Stops are made for photographs, hot drinks and snacks.

Day 5:

After breakfast, take the transfer back to Kiruna airport for your onward journey, or alternatively we can extend your stay in Swedish Lapland. We have many extension packages to choose from including a stay at the unique and original ICEHOTEL near Kiruna, or take a train south to explore and stay in other wonderful locations.
