WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Day 1:

Arrive into Whitehorse at anytime today before checking into your downtown hotel in Whitehorse.

Whitehorse is not only the entry point for the Yukon, but also an adventure travellers paradise. Paddlers take to the historic gold rush Yukon River that flows through town, hikers and mountain bikers have access to expansive trail routes and others take to the sky in float planes from Schwatka Lake heading to wild, secluded places. Autumn in the Yukon offers a flourish of colours, see the vibrant oranges, red's and yellows against expansive mountain scenery like no other.

Day 2:

Grab a hearty Canadian breakfast from one of the many cafes of the town before joining your local guide for a canoeing adventure on the mighty Yukon river. On this tour you will canoe down the historic gold rush Yukon River, enjoying the peaceful scenery, learning about the gold rush pioneers that passed through and spot wildlife whilst calmly paddling the calm waters. Your guide will lead you on a paddle from Whitehorse to the confluence of the Takhini River. Canoeing is a classically Canadian pastime and this trip is ideal for beginner paddlers who wish to enjoy this historic northern river.

Day 3:

The capital of the Yukon, Whitehorse, offers a charming inside to the history of the North. This morning learn about the different regions of the Yukon on a guided tour of the city. The city tour visits all of Whitehorse highlights, including SS Klondike, a paddlewheeler ship and the Old Log Church, both restored relics used in the Goldrush, the world’s longest wooden fish ladder and a Log Skyscraper. To finish with an inspiration of the north you will be treated to a guided tour through the MacBride Museum.

This afternoon you will be met by your hosts from Northern Lights Resort and Spa, who will transfer you from Whitehorse to your very own log chalet.

Each evening, you will treated to a three course family dining experience with other guests, sampling local products and cuisine. Following dinner relax in the comfortable communal living area, or choose to head out with your host to view the night sky from the outdoor hot tub or authentic Indian Tipi.

Day 4:

Start each day at the boutique resort with a healthy European-style breakfast of fruits, cereals, jams, yoghurts and freshly baked pastries.

Following breakfast you will join a private guide for an interpretive tour of the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. The Yukon Wildlife Preserve offer unique wildlife viewing opportunities of various species of northern Canadian mammals in their natural environment. Encompassing over seven hundred acres with various natural habitats, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve offers unparalleled wildlife viewing and photo opportunities of the Yukon’s local wildlife. Expect to see Woodland caribou, elk, mountain goats, moose, mule deer, musk oxen, wood bison, Dall's sheep, stone sheep, lynx, red foxes and arctic foxes. Choose to extend your excursion with an optional visit to the Takini Hot Springs.

Day 5:

Today is free for you to be as active or relaxed you want to be. Opt to sit in front of the fireplace learning about the Yukon, relax in the spa sauna or hot tub, or walk the grounds of the resort, taking in the peace and quiet of this amazing location. The resort also offers in house massages, provided by a professional masseuse, providing physical and spiritual well being. Choose from a range of massages, including a stress relief rack and neck massage, anti-stress aromatherapy massage or a hot stone massage.

Carcross and Southern Lakes Area – History and Photography tour
This guided excursion allows guests the opportunity to visit the stunning southern Yukon region for a half day, giving an insight into the reasons why so many people live and play here. Enjoy a scenic relaxing drive in a photographer’s paradise of diverse landscapes including Yukon mountain countryside landscape and the historic cultural village of Carcross. Learn about the arrival of the Gold Rush with interesting scenic sites of Lake Bennett, White Pass Railway as well what a Yukon community is all about.
Guided Nature Hikes
Join a guided and interpreted hike with a focus on the natural history of the Yukon. Tours are operated by a local hiking adventure specialist, a Yukon wilderness tourism business that has welcomed guests from around the world for many years. Guided by local naturalist, this is the perfect activity for those wanting to get away from it all and to learn about the diverse landscapes of the Yukon.
Aurora Photography Workshop
Guests who wish to fine-tune their night sky photography skills are able to join an Aurora workshop, learning the fine details of Northern Lights and low-light photography. The workshop begins with a 60-minute session in the afternoon that will focus on the right equipment, composition, proper infinity focus, aperture and exposure time, and all of the other fine details that are required to capture stunning images of the night sky. Once dark, join your host for a practice field session where you will put your newly acquired skills into practice. The next morning you will review the shots from the night and will also include a short Adobe Lightroom training session that is sure to help you create the best images possible. A small information booklet, featuring hints and tips for capturing the night sky will be provided for those wanting to continue their learning.

Day 6:
