This is the ‘must do’ experience and the favourite activity of guests at Muotka. When you arrive, the husky's excitement is contagious as you tether them to your sled. Once set up, they’ll pull you through the beautiful winter scenery, and you’ll realise this is the best way to see Lapland. As the dogs fall silent, you are left with the soft padding of paws and the swoosh of the sleigh for company. All safaris run so that one guest is mushing while the other rides on the sleigh, with these positions being swapped halfway. Children ride behind in a cosy sled. (Driving time approximately one hour)
This evening take your seat in a comfortable sleigh, pulled by a snowmobile, and head off into the night in search of the mesmerising Northern Lights. Your destination is an Aurora camp with minimal light pollution, a blazing open fire, plenty of hot drinks, tasty pancakes and a fantastic viewing spot to hopefully catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights as they dance across the sky.
Reindeer and reindeer herding is a big part of the history in Northern Finland, and this guided tour will give you insight into life with reindeer and the culture of the Sami people. You will get the chance to feed the reindeer, and they may even come up and eat out of your hand!
This tour is perfect for those who have never tried snowmobiling before, as it provides a great introduction. First you will get familiar with the snowmobile and take part in a full safety briefing and driving lesson. After everyone’s got the hang of it, we’ll head out on a journey into the stunning surroundings. Drivers must be at least 18 years of age, with a driving licence valid in Finland. (Single drive available for supplementary charge)
