Fogo Island Inn
DRAMATIC WILDERNESS HOTEL
Untamed nature meets radical architecture at Fogo Island Inn, off the north coast of Newfoundland. A social enterprise with all profits invested in local projects, this innovative inn offers unique access to the unspoiled subarctic in a modern, sustainable environment.
Sleep Well
29 guest rooms are housed in this iconic, X-shaped inn designed by Newfoundland-born, Norway-based architect Todd Saunders. All rooms are designed using only natural materials, feature contemporary outport decor, and have floor-to-ceiling views of sea and sky.
Eat Well
Executive Chef Jonathan Gushue creates seasonal dishes from ingredients fished, farmed, and foraged on the island, such as scallops with parsnips and rhubarb jelly, salt cod and shaved turnip, or roasted cabbage and bakeapples.
Play Well
Guests can explore the unique island community on a myriad of wilderness and cultural excursions, including ice fishing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing on a cabin retreat, joining a local fisher in the wild North Atlantic Ocean, or watching caribou, puffins, and icebergs.
Be Well
Marvel at views of icebergs in the waves, whales breaching offshore, or a savage storm. Enjoy the inn's contemporary art gallery and lounge, work out your body at the gym or your mind in the library, then relax in the roof deck's wood-fired saunas and outdoor hot tubs.
