With breathtaking scenery showcasing the frozen lake and forest beyond, and just a few minutes from Sami village Inari’s attractions, this resort offers the perfect location for combining pristine nature, Arctic activities, quality accommodation and uninterrupted views for viewing the Northern Lights overhead.

Day 1: Welcome to Wilderness Hotel Inari

Find yourself deep in the Arctic wilderness next to frozen Lake Inari for the start of your winter adventure. Away from light pollution, Wilderness Hotel Inari is in a perfect position to search the Northern Lights by night and enjoy winter adventures by day. Cosy lodging and hearty Lappish cuisine provide all the comfort you need for a relaxing break.

On arrival you'll be kitted out in Arctic gear - a warm winter overall, boots and mitts. You'll need to bring additional thermal garments and gear to layer up! Our team will provide you with a kit list ahead of your travels.
Please be aware that the order of the itinerary on this proposal is indicative and the final order of your activities and excursions will be confirmed on arrival to the lodge based on local weather and snow conditions and Aurora activity.

Dining at Wilderness Hotel Inari
Buffet style meals are served in the cosy Lappish restaurant with panoramic windows over the surrounding landscapes. Each lunch and dinner sitting features a choice of two main courses, dessert and an abundant salad and soup table. Expect Lappish ingredients to feature with plenty of fish, meat and vegetarian options. Diets can be accommodated with advance warning. There's also a well-stocked bar serving a variety of wines, craft beers, soft drinks and Arctic-inspired cocktails.

Wilderness Hotel Inari sits beside the vast Lake Inari, in a perfect position for Aurora viewing and relaxation. In winter the lake freezes over providing endless landscapes for adventure, by day and night. The forests of Finnish Lapland are nearby along with the Sami village of Inari where you can immerse yourself in the local culture and people of this unique region. The resort features 40 cosy hotel rooms, a selection of log cabins, panorama chalets and Aurora cabins – perfect for night time sky viewing. The onsite restaurant has gained a reputation for serving excellent cuisine using local Lappish ingredients. Family friendly adventures are on offer from the resort’s doorstep connecting guests to the spectacular landscapes.

Day 2: Adventures Await

Start your day in the best way, with a tasty Lappish breakfast, before stepping out into the winter wilds for your first adventure.

Snowmobile Adventure (Sharing a Snowmobile) (Inari)

Head to the frozen Lake Inari for an unforgettable snowmobile adventure. Your expert guide will give you a full safety briefing and teach you how to drive the snowmobile. You will travel into the surrounding wilderness, snowmobiling through the breathtaking white winter scenery. During the trip there will be a stop for lunch by an open fire. You will share a snowmobile with a fellow traveller with the chance to switch places en route. You'll need a full driver's license to drive the snowmobile.

Aurora Camp (Inari)

This evening take your seat in a comfortable sled, pulled by a snowmobile, and head off into the night in search of the mesmerizing Northern Lights. Your destination is an Aurora camp on Lake Inari, well away from any artificial light pollution, with an open fire, plenty of hot drinks and the perfect viewing spot to enjoy the multitude of colours as they flame across the sky.

Day 3: The Magic of the Wilderness

Meet the Reindeer (Inari)

Today you'll meet a local Sami reindeer herder and his reindeer. You'll transfer by minibus to the nearby farm and wander through the trees to find the reindeer roaming in the woodland. Your Sami guide will tell you all about life as a traditional reindeer herder, and share stories of the Sami culture. Before you leave, you'll get the opportunity to get up close with the reindeer, and feed them their favourite snack of lichen!

Aurora Snowshoeing (Inari)

Join your guide for a snow shoe walk through the wild taiga forest at night time. Experience the silence all around as you look for signs of the Northern Lights in the sky above and wildlife tracks in the snow below your feet. You'll enjoy a steady snow shoe hike through the forest to the Aurora Camp where warm drinks will be shared around the open fire.

Day 4: Unforgettable Moments

Husky Safari (Inari)

Husky Safari will take you through lakes and forests and it is a ‘must do’ experience when visiting Lapland. You will be taught how to handle the sled before you head out for the husky safari, where the huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. Enjoy the excitement of the dogs before the start, and the serene silence once they get to do what they love - run in the snowy scenery. All the husky safaris run so that one guest is mushing and the other one is sitting in the sleigh - positions will be changed halfway.

Day 5: The Heart of the Arctic

Snowshoeing Adventure (Inari)

Enjoy a snowshoe walk in the beautiful taiga forest near to Inari. On this trek, you will head out with your guide to the forests and hills. The taiga forest is a beautiful winter wonderland, and the Arctic silence is like no other. During the trek your guide will share interesting stories and information about Finnish nature and animals. You'll stop for lunch around the open fire. This trip is perfect for photographers and nature lovers.

Day 6: Live your Wildest Dreams

Cross Country Skiing (Inari)

Enjoy the perfect opportunity to try out cross-country skiing with a local guide who will show you the ropes or point you in the right direction if you've skied before. The trails around the lodge are well suited to beginners with soft snow and illuminated tracks. You'll follow a short loop in a nearby forest trail, stopping to take pictures and enjoy warm drinks on the way.

Aurora Snowmobiling (Sharing a Snowmobile) (Inari)

Depart into the Arctic night by snow mobile and seek out the elusive Northern Lights. Your evening experience begins with a thorough safety briefing and then it's time to rev the engines. Your guide will take you along easy-going trails looking for cloud-free skies and signs of the Northern Lights. You'll stop en route for warm drinks and of course to admire the Aurora should you be lucky. You'll share a snow mobile with the chance to switch places. Drivers will need a driver's licence.

Day 7: Final Morning

When it's time to leave, we'll arrange an airport shuttle service to transfer you to Ivalo Airport in time for your flight departure.
