ITINERARY

You’ll meet at Stockholm Airport in the morning. It may also be possible to meet in Stockholm city centre, on request basis. You will then meet the rest of the group and transfer a couple of hours into the Swedish wilderness, taking you away from civilisation. You’ll then hike a short distance to the remote basecamp. On arrival, the expert guides provide an expedition briefing on what lies ahead - put those mobile phones to one side, forget the modern luxuries and get your first taste of bushcraft training, which takes place for the first four days in a group format. The training is hands-on at the camp, helping to set up the camp, preparing meals and learning essential survival skills.
After a camp breakfast, the focus turns to finding food in the wilderness, developing your skills to forage and identifying edible food in nature. This includes the different ways to catch a fish and tracking animals (even though killing animals is not part of the training as it’s not permitted in southern Sweden).
Today, the training continues with learning different techniques on how to make a fire, an essential skill to survive in the wild. Then in the afternoon, learn how to build your own shelter using the raw materials on hand, as well as knot tying and weaving ropes.

The final day of group training is upon you, not the physical and hands-on element, but just as important - survival psychology, mindset and strategy. Being in a positive state of mind creates a positive attitude to deal with what’s thrown at you and gets you ready for the days ahead.

You’ll also learn about collecting water and purification, wilderness cooking and long-term survival techniques. Then one last meal together as a group before heading out on your solo adventure.

The day has arrived! After breakfast, you’ll head out on your own (although you may choose to pair up with another traveller) and set up your own solo camp, where, with just a few essential items, you’ll be putting what you’ve learnt to the test, sustaining yourself for the next 3 days. But where do you start? Shelter, fire or food?

During the training phase participants are supported in choosing a preferred location where they would like to spend their solo adventure, with flexibility and guidance from the instructors.

Wake up to your first morning on your own - the mist slowly lifting from the lake as you start the fire and cast your line out into the calm waters in an attempt to catch breakfast, the real test is upon you. This is where the training kicks in and the positive mindset is important, with self-belief and your resilience shining through.

This is your last full day on your own - how have you coped without speaking to anyone for several days, learning all about yourself, and with plenty of time to consider what’s important and what needs to be done to survive in this environment. Enjoy the tranquility of this wonderful wilderness setting and be proud of what you’ve achieved. In the evening, cook your final meal before your last night under the stars.

Your solo adventure is over, and you’ve survived the challenge. You will be greeted with a drink and breakfast back at the main camp before heading back to Stockholm for rest, recuperation and the best shower of your life in what feels like a 10-star hotel!. Once refreshed, enjoy a well deserved lunch, and time to relax. In the evening a celebratory meal is held where participants meet again to share stories and experiences from their trip.

After breakfast, participants are free to depart and make their onward travel arrangements, whether it’s flying home or perhaps spending more time in Sweden or beyond.
