Northern Lights and Whale Adventure in the Lyngen Alps

The fjords of the Lyngen Alps turn a glassy blue colour as winter draws in. By now the snow line has fallen from the peaks to the shores and covered the mountains in a thick white blanket of snow. The Lyngen Alps cover a vast area of Arctic Norway, yet much of this snow remains untouched except for the odd lonely track left by a Nordic skier or arctic animal.

For a privileged few travellers, the endlessly beautiful and remote terrain of the Lyngen Alps could be yours to enjoy on this holiday in Norway’s Arctic region. We recommend combining this particular trip with a stay in Tromsø, a northern city with small town charm, boutique shops, cosy restaurants, inviting bars and several attractions all within walking distance and embraced within a friendly atmosphere, before heading to the secluded island at the entrance to the Lyngenfjord. Here you will find the cosy Arctic Panorama Lodge, where guests enjoy a personal service and access to winter adventures including whale watching from November to January inclusive on our 3 night package. With little or no light pollution, the Northern Lights are often seen in their full glory in the night skies above the lodge. An inclusive stay here offers adventure, relaxation and a chance to leave normal life behind – completely!

Whale Watching on the Fjord

Whale Watching on the Fjord

Your hosts will take you on an exciting opportunity to try and spot whales in the nearby fjord. The warm and comfortable boat will enable you to get up close to the mammals without disturbing them. You may spot orca, minke and humpback whales during the trip, when they come up to the surface for air or even leap out of the water. On occasions the whales come so close to the boat you can almost touch them. Your guide has over 20 years experience taking guests to see the whales and will share his expert knowledge with you during the tour. Please note: wildlife and seas are unpredictable. Therefore it's important to understand that we cannot guarantee successful whale sightings and suitable sea conditions. If the tour is cancelled due to stormy weather and cannot be scheduled during your stay, you will receive a refund of the excursion cost.
