ITINERARY

Pick up your rental car at Halifax Airport and set off towards Nova Scotia’s Western Shore. Drive along the scenic coastline and stop at the iconic Peggy’s Cove, home to one of Canada’s most photographed lighthouses. Continue to Oak Island, where you will check in for the night.
Spend the day exploring Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its colourful waterfront, maritime heritage, and the famous schooner Bluenose II. Visit Mahone Bay’s scenic coastline or enjoy a kayak trip before returning to Oak Island for the evening.
Depart the South Shore and journey towards Prince Edward Island, crossing the impressive 12.9 km Confederation Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world. Upon arrival, explore Charlottetown, the birthplace of Canada, with its historic waterfront, lively arts scene, and welcoming atmosphere. Take a stroll along Victoria Row, visit the Province House National Historic Site, and discover the city's strong connection to Anne of Green Gables. In the evening, enjoy the island’s farm-to-table cuisine in one of Charlottetown’s excellent restaurants.
Spend the day immersing yourself in the beauty of Prince Edward Island. Visit the picturesque beaches of Cavendish, wander through the rolling countryside, and step into literary history at Green Gables Heritage Place. Discover the red sandstone cliffs of PEI National Park, explore the charming fishing villages, and sample fresh seafood at a local eatery. Return to Charlottetown in the evening, perhaps catching a live performance at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
Enjoy a relaxed morning before driving to Wood Islands to board the ferry to Nova Scotia. Cross the Northumberland Strait, keeping an eye out for marine wildlife. Once back on the mainland, travel across the scenic countryside of Cape Breton Island towards the tranquil town of Baddeck. Set on the shores of Bras d’Or Lake, Baddeck is a peaceful retreat and a great base for exploring the island’s rugged beauty. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site to learn about the famed inventor’s life and work.
Today is yours to explore the natural wonders of Cape Breton. Drive the breathtaking Cabot Trail, one of North America’s most scenic routes, weaving through coastal cliffs, rolling highlands, and charming fishing villages. Stop for short hikes in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where moose and eagles are often spotted. Visit local artisan workshops, take in stunning ocean vistas, and enjoy fresh seafood in a coastal village. You may also opt for a boat tour on Bras d’Or Lake or a cultural experience at a Mi’kmaq heritage site.
Begin the journey south along the Cabot Trail, stopping at scenic lookouts before continuing through Nova Scotia’s heartland. Pause in the historic town of Antigonish or visit the rugged coastline of Guysborough. Arriving in Halifax, explore the vibrant waterfront, where you’ll find museums, lively pubs, and maritime history. Consider an evening stroll along the boardwalk or a visit to the historic Citadel for panoramic views over the city.
Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Nova Scotia’s capital. Walk along the waterfront, visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, or explore the historic properties district with its shops and cafés. For history buffs, a visit to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a must. You could also take a ferry to Dartmouth for a different view of the city or join a boat tour to see Halifax from the water. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a deep-sea fishing trip or a scenic drive along the Lighthouse Route to Peggy’s Cove.
Spend your final morning in Halifax at leisure before heading to the airport for your flight home. If time allows, visit one of the city’s excellent coffee shops or take a final stroll along the waterfront to soak in the last moments of your Atlantic Canada adventure.
