Set in the serene Pyha-Luosto National Park, and located in a peaceful lakeside setting surrounded by forest is the Sunday Morning Resort – a high-quality destination where Lapland’s nature is present inside and out, combining harmony and relaxation with arctic experiences. With its remote location above the Arctic Circle, there is very little light pollution which makes it easier to catch the  Northern Lights dancing in the sky.

Our three night package includes luxurious accommodation in unique aurora suites, thrilling arctic adventures and exquisite evening dining, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.  

The package shown has four wonderful activities included, but if you wish to create your own bespoke trip, we can customise the itinerary with additional activities, increase the duration and change the room category to tailor-make and elevate your winter experience.

This is based on two people sharing an Aamu Suite for 3 nights on half-board basis with return transfers from/to Rovaniemi Airport, winter clothing and activities as described.

Departures: This trip has flexible arrival days between November and March. The order of activities is a guide only, and the exact schedule of events will be confirmed at time of booking.

ITINERARY

Arrive in Rovaniemi where you will be met and transferred to Sunday Morning Resort in Pyha National Park (journey time 90 minutes). On arrival, get acquainted with the surroundings and collect your winter clothing which you keep for the whole duration of your stay.

The meals are taken at Aihki Restaurant, where Nordic flavours meet the best local ingredients. A breakfast buffet is available from 08.30 to 10.30 and the evening meal is based on a 3-course Menu. It is possible to upgrade to a 4-course Chef’s Menu or a 6-course Chef’s Signature Menu for an additional charge.

Situated in the heart of Pyha-Luosto National Park, the Sunday Morning Resort is a high-quality boutique hotel with a lovely setting next to Lake Tunturi. The stylish resort comprises a main log building, which has been beautifully restored and houses the large Restaurant Aihki, offering a fine dining experience based on modern, northern Scandinavian cuisine, along with an extensive wine package available. It also has a welcoming lounge and bar area with fireplace, the perfect place to relax with a drink before your evening meal.
 
Accommodation options include four elegant double rooms in the main lodge, four Aihki Apartments, perfect for families just a few steps from the lodge and eleven Aamu Suites which are located near the lodge and offer a touch of luxury, perfect for a romantic getaway. 
 
In the grounds of the resort is a small cosy Kota hut which can be booked for a private dinner, and a lakeside sauna cabin, offering a relaxing experience using a traditional wood sauna, a Finnish smoke sauna and outdoor hot tub. In the winter, you can refresh yourself by trying ice swimming in the lake. There are two sauna world options possible to book as a private experience. There is also an electric sauna room at the main lodge, and guests in the hotel rooms and suites have free use for 30 minutes per day, times bookable locally.

Explore the arctic landscape along easy trails on an eco-friendly electric snowmobile. Travel silently through the snowy forest and soak in the stunning views on this exhilarating adventure. You will receive safety information and instructions on how to drive these arctic machines before heading off in pairs, swapping drivers on route. A stop is made half-way for warm drinks and photo opportunities.

Meet the Reindeer (Sunday Morning Resort)

Visit a local reindeer farm for a guided tour around the park, hear more about the Sami herders traditions and livelihood, and enjoy a calm reindeer sleigh ride. You also have the chance to help with feeding the reindeer and enjoy the stunning winter landscape. A reindeer soup lunch is included.

As well as the activities included, it is also possible to add a private Sauna and Hot tub experience - a staple of Finnish life and a lovely way to relax after a day in the snow. You will be transferred to a local husky farm where dozens of friendly huskies will welcome you. The guide will share information about the dogs and provide instructions on how to handle and drive your own husky team during a 10 km husky safari through the wilderness. There will be 2 persons per sleigh, one will be driving and the other a passenger sitting on the sled, changing drivers during the safari. This is perhaps the most popular of Arctic activities and a magical experience while in Lapland.
