WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

DAY 1:

Your trip begins from Thunder Bay with a short scenic flight over Ontario’s expansive Boreal forests and waterways, before landing on the runway directly behind the lodge. Your personal concierge will meet you and deliver your luggage to your private cabin. We recommend arriving into Thunder Bay the night before your trip begins to avoid scheduling issues and are happy to help plan your stay in Thunder Bay.

Once you are settled in, head back to the main lodge for a Canadian themed cocktail and welcome meeting, before fully immersing yourself in Canadian First Nations culture with a ceremonial smudging ritual performed by a local Ojibwe. The rest of the afternoon is your free time to get acquainted with your magnificent surroundings, so go for a walk, grab a paddle board, canoe or kayak, or simply relax at the dock with a book.

Tonight, enjoy the finest local wines, craft beers and cocktails Ontario has to offer, before sampling your first chef-prepared meal. Gather around the bonfire after dinner and meet your local First Nations interpretive guide for your stay, who will guide you through the history of the region and prepare you for the adventures ahead.

DAY 2:

Every morning begins with freshly brewed coffee or tea brought to your cabin at a time of your choosing, followed by a delicious personalised breakfast in the main lodge or on your private balcony.

The rest of your day is free for you to be as active or relaxed as you wish. Opt for a guided tour of the waterways by canoe or kayak, relax in the lakeside sauna or grab a paddle board and serenely float through this iconic region of Ontario. No cell phone reception is available in this part of the wilderness, making this the perfect time to switch off and relax in the picturesque scenery.

Tonight, enjoy freshly made appetizers followed by another mouthwatering three course meal or roaring barbeque, all served with local Ontario wines and craft beers. Evenings are spent at leisure around crackling fires, listening out for the sounds of howling wolves and gazing at the night sky.

DAY 3:

Enjoy another morning of fresh coffee in your cabin before heading out to Snake Falls and Church Island with your First Nations interpretive guide. Let your local guide walk you through the rich history of First Nation Culture and learn about their way of life whilst exploring the remote Canadian wilderness in much the same way the first explorers to north America must have. Ontario has one of the largest populations of aboriginal people and your First Nation guide will tell you what it was like growing up and living in this remote region of Canada.

Gourmet picnic lunches are served at the lodge or on the shores of a private island. Your hosts are happy to plan your time at the lodge and can easily accommodate dietary needs.

After dinner, if you stay up late enough and conditions perfect, you will have the opportunity to view the dancing green luminescence of the mesmerising Northern Lights. Travel between August and September for the best chance to witness the amazing spectacle of the Aurora Borealis.

DAY 4:

Today you have the opportunity to choose another adventure at the lodge. Join a guided fishing trip out onto the diverse waterways, giving the chance to catch pike, walleye or trout, then watch as your catch is prepared at an outdoor shore lunch on a remote island. Night trips are available for those who wish to fish with a blanket of stars overhead.

End your day with a relaxing sunset yoga session, before enjoying a freshly made cocktail on your lakeside deck. Your final dinner is served tonight, chatting with new friends around campfires or simply relaxing around the lodge taking in the best of what Northern Ontario has to offer.

DAY 5:

Awake early today to take in the last views of the pristine environment with a warm drink in your cabin. Your final breakfast is served early today in preperation for the return flight to Thunder Bay. Why not extend your stay in Canada, adding extra nights in Thunder Bay. Please get in touch to find out more.
