WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

DAY 1:

Your driver will meet you at Ivalo Airport and transfer you directly to your accommodation. Relax and settle in before enjoying dinner in the restaurant. You will enjoy an Arctic tasting menu which will include fish from Lake Inari, reindeer from Ivalo and king crab from the Arctic Ocean in northern Norway. Dishes are joined by an extensive wine list and all served in a relaxed atmosphere. After dark, look skywards for any early glimpses of the magical Northern Lights.

Staying at: JÁVRI LODGE

DAY 2:

After breakfast, your adventure in the Arctic continues. The lodge offers a range of winter nature based excursions, and as part of your stay you may choose one each day. These include:

Snowshoeing: Enjoy a guided snow shoe trip in the nearby forest. Discover snow heavy forests and frozen landscapes.
Dog-sledding: Join a husky safari and have the chance to drive your own team of dogs.
Snowmobiling: Rev the engines and explore the winter landscapes by snow mobile.
Reindeer sledding: Take the quiet route through the forest by reindeer sled and learn more about reindeer herding and life of these Arctic animals.
Ice-fishing: Travel on the frozen lake to a secluded spot where you'll make a hole through the ice and dip in your fishing lure. With luck a trout or two will bite.
Cross country skiing: Follow easy marked trails in the nearby forest and learn the basics of Nordic skiing with your local guide.
Horse-back riding: Let the steady feet of the Finnish horse take you on a tour through the wilderness in deep snow and through silent forests. The tour is suitable for beginners and will be paced at a level you're comfortable with.
Northern Lights hunts: Go in search of the Northern Lights by road - where your local guide believes the Lights will appear that evening.
Downhill skiing: Spend some time on the nearby slopes of Saariselka and enjoy some downhill fell skiing.

In the evening dinner will be served in the restaurant.

DAY 3:

After breakfast, enjoy a further winter adventure. Why not enjoy a snow activity by day and a hunt for the Northern Lights after dark. Your hosts will help to tailor your stay according to your wishes and the local weather and Aurora forecasts.

DAY 4:

After breakfast, it is time to depart. If you’re not ready to leave, why not extend your stay with extra nights, or perhaps opt for a night in a nearby glass igloo at Kakslauttanen Resort for a night to remember! We'll customize your break to your requirements.

Luxury Lodge and Northern Lights Holiday in Saariselka

Please add to my review..... My Granddaughter and I saw the Northern Lights on two evenings!!! One of the staff from the Lodge spotted them when she was walking home and actually came cack to get us all out of bed and run to the Lake. They were stunning!! We would never have seen them had she not come back to get us. The second night the staff put us on alert after checking the weather, again, without their guidance would not have seen them. Thank you Javri!!!

My granddaughter and I spent four nights at Javri Lodge. The accommodations, the staff and the food were outstanding. The Lodge arranged for all of our activities. We went Ice Fishing, Snowmobiling, Dog Sledding, Tobogganing and took part in a Lapland Reindeer Sleigh Ride. Each of the companies Javri Lodge chose for us to experience these activities were safe and first class. All of the guides on these outings were fantastic! Our accommodations were lovely and the staff always made us feel welcome checking in on us to see if we needed anything. They were always sure to have a fire burning when we gathered in the shared space. We were served a lovely buffet breakfast every morning and a hearty lunch every afternoon. The chefs served an extensive meal every evening at dinner. All the dinners included fresh local ingredients. We usually had reindeer, fish and porcini mushrooms incorporated into one of the courses. The chef was kind enough to serve the Arctic Chard we caught on our Ice fishing trip. These chefs are incredibly talented. I would highly recommend Javri Lodge to anyone. It was just perfect for our Granddaughter and I. We hope to return to Seariselka and the Javri Lodge one day. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff and owners of the Lodge.
