Ultimate Icehotel Holiday

Each season, the River Torne in Swedish Lapland freezes and so begins the yearly cycle of building and ice harvesting for the construction of the famous ICEHOTEL, near the village Jukkasjarvi, 200 km above the Arctic Circle. First created in 1989, it has been welcoming adventurous guests for over thirty years, travelling from all corners of the globe to experience a night in one of the intricately crafted ice rooms which remain at a constant temperature below freezing.

For many, sleeping at the iconic ICEHOTEL, witnessing the magical Northern Lights, driving your own dog sled team through the Arctic wilderness and experiencing the thrill of snowmobiling across frozen rivers are all examples of what dreams are made of. On our Ultimate Icehotel Holiday your dreams can come true, plus much much more.

On this unique trip you get the chance to sleep overnight in one of the amazing Deluxe Suites in the year round Icehotel 365, search for Arctic Wildlife on a snowmobile tour, hunt for the aurora borealis whilst riding magnificent Icelandic horses and hit the trails on an epic overnight dog sledding adventure.

Icehotel

The ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjarvi is the world’s first hotel made of ice and snow first appearing on the wintry landscapes of northern Sweden in 1989. Since then, the ICEHOTEL has reappeared in a new guise each year – always pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity and attracting artists and sculptors from all around the globe. The result is an art exhibition of snow, ice and light with imaginative and enchanting themes in each of the unique suites. Guests can stay in an ice room, art suite or deluxe suite – all of which stay a constant temperature just below freezing. Thick winter sleeping bags and warm outer clothing are provided to help guests stay comfortable. There are also warm hotel rooms and Nordic chalets. There are saunas and shared bathroom facilities as well as a choice of three restaurants nearby. The ICEHOTEL restaurant serves Nordic cuisine serving delicacies like reindeer, moose, Arctic char and bramble berries, prepared by Michelin-trained head chef Alexander Meier and his team. The Chef’s Table 12 course tasting menu offers fine dining in a private and personal atmosphere. Meanwhile, the nearby Homestead restaurant offers a more relaxed and informal dining and rustic, homecooked dishes. Inside the restaurant, there’s a cocktail bar and in the ICEHOTEL itself, there’s an ice bar for a chilled drink. For guests staying outside of the winter season, rooms are inside the ICEHOTEL 365 – a year round ICEHOTEL inside a grass-covered roof.

Set out on an unforgettable snowmobile journey through the pristine winter wilderness, guided by a local expert. After a 45-minute drive from the Icehotel, switch to environmentally friendly snowmobiles and ride through ancient forests and reindeer grazing lands, where moose, reindeer, hares, and birds are often spotted. Along the way, your guide will share stories of the region’s past and the traditions of modern reindeer herders. As the polar twilight sets in, pause for a late lunch featuring seasonal Arctic ingredients before returning to the Icehotel.

Back at the Icehotel you can check into your warm room accommodation and take some time to rest before your epic dinner.

In the evening, step into The Veranda, an intimate dining space designed to feel like a gathering among friends. Here, a carefully curated 12-course tasting menu takes you on a journey through Arctic flavours, crafted using traditional techniques such as smoking, drying, and pickling. Each dish showcases the region’s seasonal ingredients, offering an authentic and warming end to your Arctic day. A perfectly paired wine selection enhances the experience, making this an evening to remember.

Arctic wildlife safari by snowmobile

Arctic wildlife safari by snowmobile

This activity offers a fantastic day in the mountains and forests, led by a local guide. Participants will drive a snowmobile through stunning natural landscapes, with excellent chances of spotting the "king of the forest"—the moose—in its winter habitat. In the coniferous forests below the mountain, sightings of moose, reindeer, hares, and birds are common, providing a unique experience. The tour begins with the guide picking up participants by car at the Icehotel for a scenic 45-minute drive through the winter landscape to the Kalix River. There, the group will switch to eco-friendly snowmobiles and set off through mountainous primeval forests and across the ancient reindeer kingdom. Participants share snowmobiles, taking turns driving, as the guide shares stories about the region's history and the modern reindeer herder’s way of life. The experience includes a late lunch made with seasonal ingredients, enjoyed as the polar twilight descends over the mountains. The tour concludes with a 45-minute transfer back to the Icehotel.

This afternoon you join The Ultimate Dog Sledding Adventure - driving your very own team of huskies combined with sleeping in a wilderness cabin. The tour begins at the kennels where you meet the excitable huskies, eagerly waiting to get started. After an introduction to the equipment and safety information you will head out on the snowy trails through the wilderness as night falls, giving you the opportunity to view the magical Northern Lights in the clear starry skies.
