SUGGESTED ITINERARY

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Day 1:

Arrive into Winnipeg and check into your hotel. Today is a free day to explore the sights of the city that include Assiniboine Park and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Day 2:

Following breakfast, check out of your hotel in anticipation for your flight to the land of the polar bear.

Upon arrival into Churchill you will be met by your hosts at Lazy Bear Lodge before making the short journey to your unique accommodation. Once settled into your cosy rooms head out into the small town of Churchill on a cultural and heritage tour. Explore various historic sites, including Cape Merry, an outside tour of the polar bear holding facility and the wreckage of the famous plane wreckage ‘Miss Piggy’.

Day 3:

Each morning at Lazy Bear Lodge begins with a nourishing, northern breakfast of local, organic ingredients. The lodge’s cafe uses ingredients freshly picked from their greenhouse and from local suppliers.

Today is your first opportunity to explore the nearby wilderness of Hudson Bay and the Tundra. Join passionate guides in the Sam Hearne; a custom built coast guard certified boat, for a coastal adventure. Visit remote polar bear viewing areas on Hudson bay to witness the beautiful creatures in their summer environment, swimming in coves and amongst wildflowers. Weather and wildlife permitting, you will disembark the boat and walk with polar bears.

The unique lodge began life in the 1990’s, created from gnarly, twisted spruce and tamarack timber left over from a forest fire. Your hosts, Wally and Dawn, built and designed this unique lodge over the next 10 years.

Day 4:

Your hosts at the lodge are passionate about preserving Churchill's abundant and wild nature. This dedication and passionate care for the abundance of Arctic wildlife can be seen in every part of the Lodge's operational mandate of sustainable tourism.

Head back out onto the same shoreline of Hudson Bay as yesterday, where hundreds of Beluga Whales come to feed, mate and give birth in the warm, shallow near-coastal waters. Observe the beautiful, friendly whales in their natural habitat as they feed on arctic char and brown trout.

Day 5:

Venture out onto the magnificent tundra landscapes today on-board an Arctic Crawler™. Witness nesting, migratory birds, meadows of wildflowers and varied wildlife including seals, arctic hare and fox.

Day 6:

Enjoy your final tundra breakfast at the lodge before bidding farewell to this spectacular part of the world. Your trip includes flights back to Winnipeg for your final night in Manitoba.

Day 7:

Your final morning in Manitoba begins with a breakfast at your hotel. Extend your stay in the city to take in the cosmopolitan vibe or travel further into the province. The arrival of Manitoba’s sunny summer means days spent at the beach, whitewater rafting along one of the famous Canadian rivers or at lakeside wilderness cabins perfect for fishing and hiking.
