Staying at: Sorbyn Lodge

Days 2-3:

The adjacent small village of Sorbyn gives opportunities for village walks with views over Lake Vittrasket, frozen in winter time. This perfect winter setting lends itself beautifully to taking part in some of the high quality activities available from the lodge, and no trip to Swedish Lapland is complete without experiencing the two ‘must do’ activities - snowmobiling and dog-sledding. We have included a half-day Snowmobile nature tour with lunch included and a half-day Dog-sledding safari as well as a Northern Lights Snowshoe walk as part of the holiday. There are a range of other activities if you prefer such as a full-day snowmobile and dog-sledding excursion, Moose safari in a sleigh, Ice fishing, Visit a Sami family, Cross-country skiing, daytime snowshoe walk and Ice sculpting. All of these activities are private for your booking, giving you that special personal service.

Snowmobile Nature Tour (3 hours)

This is the best way to get off the beaten track and explore areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. The knowledgeable guides will point out landmarks, share nature, historical and cultural information, and it is also an opportunity to see local wildlife such as reindeer and moose in their local habitats. The tours are based on two people per snowmobile, but it is possible for single driver use for an additional supplement. All instructions and safety information is provided, along with winter clothing and lunch.

Days 2-3:

Dog-sledding (2.5 hours)

Dog-sledding is an amazing adventure that combines the beauty of Lapland’s winter nature with the thrill of mushing your own team of dogs. As you approach the kennels the sound of excited barking fills the air, and you are greeted by the sight of a pack of eager huskies waiting to take you on a journey through the snowy landscape. After a brief introduction to the dogs and instructions on how to mush your own dog team, the dogs burst into action, travelling deeper into the forest and across the frozen lakes and rivers. This is a truly unforgettable experience. The tour is based on 2 people sharing a sled, swapping drivers on route and includes winter clothing, safety equipment, snacks and drinks and a transfer to the husky kennels.

Northern Lights Snowshoe Walk (3 hours)

Equipped with snowshoes, warm clothing and a head-torch, guests can venture out into the wilderness with a local guide, stopping at various points to share interesting facts about the area, seeking any signs of animals that inhabit the area and of course opportunities to search for the elusive aurora. The trek through the snowy landscape offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere, with only the sound of crunching snow underfoot. The tour includes the equipment with snacks and hot drinks.

Time can be spent relaxing in the lodge's comfortable accommodation or lounge area with a bar and open fire, or if you wish to venture out on your own into the arctic nature there are beautiful walking trails on forest paths in the surrounding area near the lodge. There is a 2.5km and 5km track that is lit for walks in the winter darkness and a 10km track for the more adventurous. Adjacent to the lodge is also a nature trail that provides information about the forest and lake area.

A big part of Swedish culture is the sauna experience, we have also included a 2 hour private session in the wood-burning sauna by the lake. After a hot moment, some people even take a dip in the lake, if you’re feeling brave!

Day 4:

After breakfast, take the private transfer back to the airport for your onward journey, or alternatively we can extend your stay in Swedish Lapland. We have many extension packages to choose from including a stay at the unique Treehotel nearby or perhaps a train ride to the world’s original ICEHOTEL.

Meal Upgrade

The evening meal is based on 3-courses. However, it is possible to upgrade to a 5 or 7 course meal at an additional supplement.
