The farm sits next to the Aurlandselva River – a mecca for British angling enthusiasts from as far back as the 19th Century. Today guests come to Aurland for the dramatic landscapes, the outdoor adventures and the peace and quiet. 292 Aurland is a recently converted fishing lodge with just eight rooms housed in its three converted buildings.

The Fisherman’s Cabin, one of Aurland’s oldest houses dates back to the early 18th century and houses two double rooms and two suites. The Goat Barn building combines the 18th century smoke house with architecture, this is where you’ll find three suites, and finally Grandmother’s House from the mid-18th century preserves its heritage with the Superior suite. Each room is unique in its own way with design and colour arrangements individually tailored. While the rooms are kept in a light and clean atmosphere, the common space creates a rustic atmosphere of comfort as it is kept in a strictly wooden style. Home-cooked dishes are freshly prepared onsite and served next to the roaring fire in the atmospheric dining area, whilst the outside space is a delightful area to walk and rest.

Today begins with an organic farmer’s breakfast to set you up for an adventurous day ahead. Join one of the guides for a scenic hike to one of the local farms in Aurland and learn about the life of those living and working on a farm in the region. The specific farm differs depending on the season, but the hike along with the farm visit is a lovely way to spend your morning.

The evening meals are usually served in the traditional smokehouse, a charming lounge and restaurant where the daily three-course dinners are taken -  at 292 Aurland, they take pride in using regional ingredients, growing their own vegetables and sourcing produce from local producers and neighbouring farms. Later, you have a chance to relax and unwind in the wood fired hot tub and sauna, which is optional for you to include in your stay and must be pre-booked.
Mountain Farm Hike (Half-day)

Mountain Farm Hike (Half-day)

Embark on a guided hike to one of the local mountain farms and learn all about traditional farming in the area. This half-day hike is suitable for everyone, and is available in May, June, September and October. The easy hike, not so long or steep takes you to one of the mountains nearby with great views of the fjord. At the small local farm, you have the opportunity to meet Gry, a farmer who has lived at the farm for 60 years. She will join guests on a hike, telling them about the history of herself, the farm, and if possible provides guests with freshly made coffee and pancakes. A packed lunch is provided for guests.

Perhaps go for a gentle walk, or alternatively make use of the bicycles at the farm, available for guests and plan your very own fjord adventure!

There are also other optional excursions to choose from -  travel to the nearby fjord where you can witness the towering mountains from the water. Choose to row in traditional boats or alternatively enjoy a guided sea-kayaking trip and combine these with a bicycle ride, with lunch included for a half-day adventure. It is also possible to join a full-day trip to visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Naeroyfjord and travel along the old postal route.

Enjoy your last evening with a pre-dinner drink before enjoying the daily menu in the smokehouse restaurant.

You have time to unwind and make the most of your last few hours in the fjords before saying farewell to Tone and Bjorn at the farm. In the afternoon, a transfer takes you to the quay in time for the express boat to Bergen, arriving at 20.45. The 3 hour journey cruises up the Aurlandsfjord before entering the mighty Sognefjord, then heads west towards the coast, and south to Bergen. The views are captivating, and the trip is more an unforgettable experience rather than a form of transport.

When you arrive in Bergen, make your way to the hotel for a 2 night stay. We have chosen a boutique hotel, just a few minutes walk away, but there are several lovely accommodation options in Bergen.
