ITINERARY

Arrive at Kiruna Airport and transfer the short distance to the ICEHOTEL in the village of Jukkasjarvi. Check-in to the accommodation and prepare yourself for a night on ice. Dinner is not included, but you have a choice of either the Icehotel Restaurant on site, or the cozy Homestead Restaurant just 10 minutes walk away.

Guests can stay in an ice room, art suite or deluxe suite – all of which stay a constant temperature just below freezing. The Chef’s Table 12 course tasting menu offers fine dining in a private and personal atmosphere. Meanwhile, the nearby Homestead restaurant offers a more relaxed and informal dining and rustic, homecooked dishes. Inside the restaurant, there’s a cocktail bar and in the ICEHOTEL itself, there’s an ice bar for a chilled drink. For guests staying outside of the winter season, rooms are inside the ICEHOTEL 365 – a year round ICEHOTEL inside a grass-covered roof.
After your night in the Ice Hotel you will be up early - take some time having a nice hot sauna and hearty breakfast before meeting up with your guide for the husky sledding excursion. There are two times to choose from, a morning or afternoon trip. There are other dog-sledding excursions available, including mushing your own husky team. Afterwards you will enjoy a well deserved rest to warm up before you will be able to check into your warm accommodation and we recommend a relaxing evening with dinner in either the Ice Hotel or the Homestead before heading out to look for the northern lights down by the river Torne.

On this exciting excursion, guests can enjoy riding as passengers in the sled. Experience the dogs' incredible energy as they pull you through the stunning northern Lapland landscape. While you relax and take in the scenery, the only sound is the soft whoosh of the sled runners gliding through the snow. The tour includes wilderness coffee and cake served by an open fire.

After breakfast, show off your creative side with an Ice Sculpting class. The guide will show you the technique using the hand tools provided, then create your own ice sculpture from pure Torne River ice. The experience is relaxing and quite addictive as your piece of art evolves. The afternoon is free to enjoy the peaceful surroundings - walk to the village, across the frozen river or explore the magical Art rooms of the Icehotel itself. 

In the evening head out for a thrilling Snowmobile adventure in search of the Northern Lights. Driving in pairs, hit the trails through the forest away from the light pollution. The guide will make short stops to talk about this natural phenomenon and local area, stopping towards the end of the tour for a two-course rustic dinner in a wilderness cabin by the open fire.

The class starts with the instructor talking about how the block of crystal-clear ice is harvested each year from the Torne river, followed by an introduction to ice sculpting and how to use the tools supplied. Then you get to create your very own master piece and see how the ICEHOTEL's artists and sculptors turn a simple block of ice into something magical. The process is engrossing and you wish you have more time to be creative.

Hunt the northern lights on a snowmobile. Take the snowmobile out in the wilderness where the northern lights are most visible and savor a dinner in a warm cabin.

A clear sky, darkness and some patience are the best ingredients for hunting the northern lights. On this tour, you take a snowmobile out in the wilderness, where the northern lights are most visible, away from light pollution. An exciting adventure where you both get to drive a snowmobile and have a chance to see the northern lights.

You share a snowmobile, driving through the dark winter landscape, following your guide. The guide will frequently make short stops to tell you about the northern lights as a phenomenon, how it occurs, and for you to watch and have time to take your own pictures.
Along the way you stop in a warm wilderness cabin where the guide serves a two-course dinner. The experience continues on the way back and the northern lights have hopefully danced for you before you return to Icehotel.

In the morning, after breakfast, get prepared for trying a traditional method of transportation in the arctic regions - nordic skiing, otherwise known as cross-country skiing. This is a very popular pastime in this area and great way to explore the snowy landscape.

Together with a guide, you'll head out on a wonderful trip using cross-country skis across the frozen Torne River. The guide explains the technique and you ski to the island Rimisaari, located in the middle of the river. During the tour, the guide will prepare coffee and Swedish fika over an open fire, and for those wishing to perfect their skills, can keep on skiing on a prepared track nearby.
