Walk and Talk Virtual Tour - The Edible Finnish Forest

Author: Laura
Location: Finland

During these turbulent times of stop-start travel, we miss the sights, sounds and tastes of our destinations. So many experiences left unfulfilled, so many guides silenced, so many flavors that will wait for diners in the distant future. These sensory experiences are heartfelt and provide our clients with memories they hold onto forever.

When recalling a walk she did with her family a year ago, our founder Laura Greenman felt that bringing the forest to our clients at this time was as important as ever. After conversations with one of our guides in Finland Annukka Linenien, Laura decided to bring the forest to our clients and partners through a series of 10 minute virtual tours which will change with the seasons as travel slowly restarts.

We’re delighted to bring you the results on our Vimeo showcase page. The first video features Annukka and her two dogs Sisu and Aava. The trio set off on a berry and mushroom picking walk through the Finnish forest near to Lahti. In the video, Annukka prepares us a delicious spruce-infused forest drink and answers some of the questions put to her on social media. Find out what plants make the best herbal teas, which season Annukka prefers to walk in the forest and how to avoid those pesky mosquitoes on your next FInnish holiday.

Annukka walks with her camera phone and basic equipment, so this is a personal and up close snapshot of a foraging walk with her. Watching (and editing) the film made Laura reminisce about her walk last August and just a tiny bit jealous of the chanterelle discovery on the forest floor!

We really hope you enjoy the film and we’ll bring more soon!
