George Clarke and his Amazing Spaces in Finnish Lapland

Author: Laura
Location: Finland

Back in March, I was travelling in Finnish Lapland visiting many of our amazing partners. Also in town was George Clarke with his TV crew filming the popular British show “Amazing Spaces”.

Tonight the show airs on Channel four and covers many of our signature stays with a focus on the magical Northern Lights. So for those curious about travelling to Finnish Lapland and experiencing these architectural gems, look no further.

Here’s a round-up of the places he visited. Get in touch with our team as it’s not too late to travel to Finland this winter. There’s still availability between January through April.

The Glass Igloos at Kakslauttanen

The original glass igloos were imagined here at Kakslauttanen, offering guests wrap around views of the night sky whilst staying cosy and warm inside. There’s no better place to view the Northern Lights than from the comfort of your bed and here it’s possible to do just that. The igloos vary in size, some have en suite shower rooms, whilst others require a short walk to the showers and sauna building.

Javri Lodge

I was staying at the luxurious Javri Lodge when George turned up. I’m sure he must have been attracted to its architectural beauty - with its mix of traditional log cabin and space age industrial chic. The capsule front door creates a feeling of excitement as you step into a different world inside. The food is amazing and the view from our Sky View suite was fabulous. Mobile Aurora Cabin

The Northern Lights dance across the sky when conditions are just right - cloud free and dark. Sometimes being in the right place at the right time is all you need for success! This ingenious accommodation helps guests locate the Northern Lights on the great expanse of frozen Lake Inari. Your host will try to detect where the lights will appear and then delivers you to that very spot where you’ll sleep in comfort in a cosy mobile aurora cabin.

Arctic Treehouse Hotel

The panoramic windows at Arctic Treehouse Hotel open up to views of Arctic forest and, with luck, the Northern Lights after darkness descends on this beautiful valley. Rooms are fully ‘hygge’ with cosy furnishings, soft lighting and comfy chairs to sit and admire the views. There’s a WhatsApp room service and restaurant serving delicious Nordic cuisine.

If you’re inspired by unique Arctic stays, our team our here to help realize your dreams! All of our holidays and short breaks can be tailored to your requirements and include activities like husky sledding, which George Clarke also enjoyed (according to his Insta account, he is now the proud owner of a new husky dog LOKI inspired by his Finnish travels!).
