Four New Finnish Northern Lights Stays

Author: Laura
Location: Finland

The Northern Lights, a natural phenomenon also known as the aurora borealis, originate from the interaction between charged particles from the sun and Earth's magnetic field. These particles, carried by the solar wind, constantly flow from the sun's outer atmosphere.

The Northern Lights season runs from September to late March and this year activity is expected to be particularly intense due to the Solar Maximum which occurs every 11 years or so. During this time, the sun's magnetic field intensifies, resulting in increased sunspots and solar flares. This leads to more charged particles being released into the solar wind, leading to more frequent and vibrant aurora displays across Scandinavia, Canada and the Nordic countries including Finland!

Finland for us is a land of wellness and the purest of nature experiences. In the winter, the snow falls heavy and creates small havens of tranquillity amid forests and frozen lakes. This season we’re delighted to introduce a wonderful collection of cozy Northern Lights cabins and hotels in Finnish Lapland, perfect for couples and families.
