Best Panoramic Cabins in Scandinavia

Author: Annie
Location: Finland, Norway, Sweden
As boutique experience specialists, panoramic cabins tend to heavily feature in our daydreams. Hidden away in Scandinavia's untamed wilds they serve as a gentle reminder that the good things in life are often simple. Hygge teaches us to take joy from homely cosiness, Lagom to balance our commitments. Both feature in the Scandinavian cabin lifestyle which insists that a hot chocolate and a panoramic window seat are enough to make us feel content.

This and the prospect of seeing the Northern Lights emerge from your panoramic cabin window seat may sprinkle a dash of awe to our escapist phantasies. To get you daydreaming as well, we’ve selected our favourite Scandi design cabins in Sweden's, Norway's and Finland's Aurora Belt.

Arctic Retreat
Some places can’t be described. They need to be experienced. The Arctic Retreat is one of these places. Deep in Swedish Lapland’s Boreal forest, the log cabin featuring floor-to-ceiling windows offers an escape into a world of calm. Surrounded by a rushing river, lanky trees, and rolling hills you may spot swans glide through the water during summer, wake up to birdsong or watch the Aurora emerge in the skies during autumn and winter. The cabin itself encourages to observe the untamed surroundings. With minimalist Scandi chic interior and floor-to-ceiling windows, nature's soothing power extends into your lodgings. The cabin may be a compelling reason to rest and relax inside, but then the hot tub outside offers a perhaps even stronger argument to take in the view with some bubbles at hand.

To round-off the experience, we recommend the 3-course dinners served at the cabin. Expect wholesome and surprisingly exquisite foods sourced from your immediate surroundings.

Inari Panorama Chalet
In Finland, log cabin vibes have found a new scenic home at the shores of Lake Inari. The stylish panorama chalets welcome hygge-seeking travelers for the first time this winter. Authentic Finnish design, paired with luxury seamlessly blends into Lappish nature. Inside the cabin, relaxation comes in the shape of a private sauna, a king-size bed, or simply views across the vast expanses of Finland’s third largest lake. After an active day of Arctic adventures, unwinding near the fireplace may just be the perfect way to round off the day.

Lake Rukajavri in Ruka-Kuusamo in Finland offers a scenic backdrop inviting to be idle and active in equal measure. Fill your days exploring scenic hiking trails, and nights curled up in your glass cabin where floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass roof provides the best views of the surrounding scenery and the night sky. Admire the magical Aurora Borealis between September and April. In summer, you may replenish your vitamin-D levels, a service kindly provided by the Midnight Sun. A private patio and outdoor fireplace allow for quiet moments outside, but a cosy double bed, small kitchenette and private en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet provide all the essentials needed to hibernate inside. Breakfast is included and will be served only 200 meters from your villa. For a little extra excitement, we recommend dining in a tepee hut or in the forest.

At the northern edge of  Norway, you’ll find yourself engulfed by views of wind-gushed waters and rugged mountains.  Take a seat in the sheepskin covered chairs and gaze outside through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The edge of the mainland Norway, is a place to slow down and take escapism to the next level as WiFi is only available on request.  An Arctic Digital Detox can be arranged both in summer and in winter.
