Departures: This trip has flexible arrivals and operates between 20th December and end of April. The itinerary is a guide only and can be tailor-made to your exact requirements. There are other activities available and can be added or swapped to those stated on the itinerary. It is also possible to enjoy this trip without an overnight stay at the igloo hotel if you prefer, and room upgrades are also possible.
On arrival at Alta Airport or the city centre, take your shared transfer to Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel. This extraordinary hotel is rebuilt every winter entirely from ice and snow, with a new design theme each season. After checking in, store your luggage in the locker area and explore the intricate ice sculptures and snow-carved rooms.
In the evening, enjoy a two-course dinner (optional wine package) made from locally sourced ingredients in the Lavvu restaurant. You’ll then be given a short introduction to ‘Sleeping On Ice’ before settling into your igloo room for a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic experience.
After a buffet breakfast, spend a leisurely morning enjoying the Arctic Wilderness Lodge facilities or book an optional excursion, sauna, or jacuzzi. In the afternoon, join a guided snowshoe trek across the Alta Valley for panoramic views of the Arctic landscape.
After a 3 course dinner, meet the Sámi people for an unforgettable evening reindeer safari. Glide through the snow on a sled pulled by reindeer under the starry night sky, keeping watch for the Northern Lights as you learn about Sámi traditions and culture.
After breakfast, prepare for a thrilling Arctic Light snowmobile tour. Full safety instruction is provided before you set off in pairs, taking turns to drive through one of Europe’s largest wilderness areas. Stops along the way offer time to admire the scenery and take photos.
Return to the Lodge for lunch, then choose between relaxing by the fire or renting snowshoes for another self-guided adventure. Your final evening includes a three-course dinner at the Maka restaurant, with free time afterwards to step outside and watch for the elusive Northern Lights over Alta.
