The train continues to climb to the Handangervidda mountain plateau, reaching Finse, the highest point on the route, offering spectacular views. The train then starts to head back down the mountain region towards the fjords, stopping at Myrdal, the connection point for the Flam Railway. The rail journey takes approximately 5 hours.
You’ll be ready for a hearty dinner on your return to the farm consisting of local seasonal cuisine such as Norwegian mountain trout, lobster, lamb, goat, reindeer and venison.
Today begins with an organic farmer’s breakfast to set you up for an adventurous day ahead. Join one of the guides for a scenic hike to one of the local farms in Aurland and learn about the life of those living and working on a farm in the region. The specific farm differs depending on the season, but the hike along with the farm visit is a lovely way to spend your morning.
The evening meals are usually served in the traditional smokehouse, a charming lounge and restaurant where the daily three-course dinners are taken - at 292 Aurland, they take pride in using regional ingredients, growing their own vegetables and sourcing produce from local producers and neighbouring farms.
