On arrival at Ivalo Airport, you will be met and transferred to Hotel Inari for an overnight stay with 3-course dinner included. Accommodation is based in standard rooms, but it may be possible to upgrade to a superior room with a sauna. The local guide will provide information for the next few days and make sure that you have everything needed for the trip ahead. The hotel is located in the town of Inari and just a few steps from the frozen lake. Take a walk in the evening, keeping watch for the magical northern lights in the sky.
After breakfast, you’ll meet the guide at the Safari office next door to the hotel and get dressed in warm clothing, including winter overalls, boots, woollen socks, mittens and hat, and helmet. Then after a safety briefing and instructions on how to handle these powerful machines (although we do recommend that participants have previous experience), you’ll start the engines and drive one person per snowmobile, beginning the journey heading north through the rugged beauty in this region towards Nuorgam. The distance covered is between 120-170 km depending on route and conditions.
During the trip, you will stop for lunch before continuing the drive, enjoying the stunning arctic scenery. Finally, once you’ve reached the overnight accommodation, it’s time to relax and warm up in the hot sauna and refuel with a well-deserved dinner (3-course) before a good night's sleep.Continue the adventure by crossing the Norwegian border - heading through the beautiful and dramatic landscape of Northern Norway with very few trees compared to Finland and the weather can be unpredictable as you get closer to the coast. Once you reach the Arctic Ocean, enjoy the rugged shores and take a walk by the ocean. If you’re feeling brave enough, perhaps take a dip in the icy water as the Gulf Stream prevents the sea from freezing over. During time here, you’ll learn about the Sami people, the King Crab, Salmon and the mighty ocean itself.
Depending on weather conditions, lunch will either be served outside by the fire or in a restaurant to celebrate reaching your final destination. Then in the afternoon you return to the accommodation to relax and enjoy an evening meal (3-course) and sauna to warm tired bodies. But don’t forget to check outside in case the aurora is putting on a show. The distance travelled today is 130-150 km.
Today you’ll jump back on the snowmobiles for the final day, taking you through dramatic and vast wilderness areas, with a break to warm up and have lunch before continuing to Inari, arriving back in the afternoon or early evening depending on conditions. The distance covered is 120-170 km.
Congratulations on completing such an epic journey with your last evening meal (3-course) and overnight stay at Hotel Inari. In the evening, head outside and hope for clear skies - the magical Northern Lights will surely be the icing on the cake for your Arctic Adventure.
