Staying at: ICEHOTEL Sweden

Day 2:

After waking up to a drink of hot lingonberry juice, warm up in the sauna and get ready for breakfast. The day can be spent taking part in several optional daytime and evening activities available to pre-book at the ICEHOTEL, including Dog-sledding, snowmobile adventures, ice sculpting, cross-country skiing, Moose safari on horseback, Reindeer excursions and northern lights trips. Our sales team will be happy to discuss the different options available.

Your second night is spent in one of the warm Kaamos Hotel rooms. There are also superior hotel rooms and chalets available for a supplement.

Day 3:

After breakfast you’ll have time to enjoy the snowy surroundings, perhaps take a walk along the frozen Torne River or there may be time for a morning activity before you join the transfer to Kiruna Station for the early afternoon train to Gallivare. The journey takes approximately 90 minutes.

On arrival, you are met and transferred to Sapmi Nature Camp in the heart of Sjavnja National Reserve and part of the Laponia UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a small-scale resort, only taking a few guests at a time and providing a very personal and authentic Sami experience. Your host, Lennart, tends to your every need, sharing his traditions as a reindeer herder and culture of the Sami people, preparing your meals and guiding you throughout your stay. This is a very special experience!

Staying at: Sapmi Nature Camp

Day 4:

A stay at the camp brings you closer to nature, along with the Sami people who have grown up here. You can help and be involved in the daily workings at the camp, or you can simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity and comfort of this unique place. Accommodation is based in a deluxe lavvu, offering the comforts of a hotel room with the charm and rustic luxury of staying in a glamping pod. The meals are prepared and served in the small timber cabin which acts as the dining room and main lounge, based on Sami cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. On your two night stay, there are two evening meals, one lunch and two breakfasts included.

The use of nordic skis and snowshoes are included during your stay so you can explore the area on the prepared tracks at your own pace, warming up afterwards in the wood-fired sauna. Situated in a remote spot, away from artificial light, there is no need to venture out on vehicles in search of clear skies - the fire will be burning, keeping you warm while you sit and wait for the aurora to appear. The perfect ending to a magical experience.

Day 5:

After breakfast, say goodbye to your host and transfer back to Gallivare station for the train connection, heading south again to the small village of Boden. The train journey takes approximately 2 hours, a winter activity in itself!

On arrival you are met and transferred to the Treehotel, 40 minutes away. You check-in at the guesthouse, where you’ll find the cosy reception and dining area before making your way to the tree room accommodation, located in the forest a few minutes walk away by a gravel path. There are eight individual rooms to choose from, all unique and offering something a little different. Being literally ‘in the trees’ you have a wow feeling and a sense of being somewhere unique and remarkable. The evening meal is served at the guesthouse, with a 3-course meal based on local produce.

Your evening can be spent at the cosy guesthouse, enjoying the privacy of your accommodation or taking part in an optional 2-hour night time safari, taking you to a remote place away from artificial light, learning about the aurora and trying local delicacies around the open fire.

Staying at: Treehotel Sweden

Day 6:

After a delicious buffet breakfast, there may be time for a morning activity or sauna, before being transferred to Boden Station and your last train journey, taking 50 minutes, south to the town of Lulea on the Bay of Bothnia. You are met and taken on a guided transfer to Brandon Lodge, approximately 30 minutes away.

The setting is simply stunning - perched on the forest edge overlooking the vast frozen sea, the impressive lodge houses the lounge area with comfortable seating by the open fire and a small bar area. On the first floor is the restaurant where all the meals are served. Scattered by the lodge are 15 wooden cabins offering a very warm and cosy stay for two nights, based on a half-board basis.

In the grounds of the lodge, just by the frozen sea there are two fire pits and also a small log cabin with a log burner where you can light a fire and enjoy the tranquillity of nature, keeping watch at the starry sky above, waiting for the northern lights to appear. There are also some optional evening and northern lights activities which can be booked, including an Aurora Hideaway dinner, Northern Lights nature tour by snowmobile pulled sled, snowshoe walk with dinner, Arctic astronomy tour and Northern Lights snowmobile safari. All of these can be pre-booked, which we recommend to guarantee availability during busy periods.

Staying at: Brandon Lodge
