ITINERARY

Welcome to the start of your 7-day walking holiday in Latvia! Upon arriving at Riga Airport, a private transfer will escort you to your base for the next two nights in a 4 star Hotel. After settling into your accommodation, you will meet your expert tour leader this evening. They will walk you through your upcoming multi-day trekking tour, share essential trail details, and answer any questions you might have. Afterward, the rest of the day is yours to unwind, explore Riga's stunning Art Nouveau architecture, or sample the city's vibrant dining scene.
Before heading into the wilderness, today is all about exploring Latvia's cultural and coastal gems on foot. Your private guided hiking package begins with an expert-led walking tour of Riga. You’ll discover the city's finest Art Nouveau architecture, wander the medieval streets of the Old Town, and see landmarks like Riga Castle and the Three Brothers. Afterward, experience the sights and scents of the historic Riga Central Market, sampling local seasonal treats inside its famous Zeppelin hangar pavilions.
 
The afternoon brings a refreshing change of scenery as you take a local train to Jūrmala. Known for its pristine white-sand beaches and charming wooden villas, this seaside resort offers a wonderful coastal walk. Today is dedicated to hiking in Gauja National Park, tackling the undulating terrain along the majestic Gauja River. This specific hike is legendary, guaranteeing one of the most scenic vistas in the entire country as the pristine river valley curls through dramatic hills.
 
Along the trail, you will step back in time while exploring Latvia's medieval past. Discover the ancient Turaida Castle ruins, gaze at the grand Krimulda Manor, and wander through the fortified Sigulda Castle Complex before resting for the evening. Your hotel will be 4 star and located in Sigulda.

Today, your journey takes you deeper into the wild heart of Latvia. We begin in the 19th-century paper mill village of Līgatne, exploring its historic streets on a short morning walk.
From there, we transition back into the wilderness for an exhilarating day of hiking in Gauja National Park. This leg of the journey takes you along the famous Līgatne Nature Trails, an area celebrated for its stunning sandstone outcrops, hidden caves, and rugged cliffs. Designed to showcase the very best of Latvian nature, these forest trails offer an incredible opportunity to trek through dense canopies and spot local wildlife, such as majestic elk, deer, and wild boar.
 
In the evening, trade your hiking boots for a glass of wine. You will visit the enchanting Anfabrika cliff cellar, illuminated by candlelight, for a private tasting of locally produced wines. After a rewarding day on the trails, you will transfer to the peaceful Amata Village for an overnight stay.
This morning, get ready to walk the Amata Trail, celebrated as one of the most scenic routes for hiking in Gauja National Park. The  highlights of today’s trek are the immense sandstone formations and outcrops, which date back 350 to 400 million years to when ancient rivers deposited sand grains that compacted over millennia. The trail offers vantage points to experience the untouched wilderness, a memorable way to conclude your hiking adventure.
 
Following the hike, you will return to Riga for the final night of your trip. Enjoy a free evening to relax and reacquaint yourself with the vibrant charms and culinary delights of the capital city.
Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel before checking out. Depending on your flight time, take advantage of some last-minute sightseeing or souvenir shopping in Riga's historic center. A private transfer will pick you up from the hotel and escort you to Riga Airport for your onward journey home, marking the conclusion of an unforgettable week of hiking in Gauja National Park.
