ITINERARY

Welcome to Halifax! After collecting your rental car at the airport, head to your hotel and settle in. Begin your journey with a leisurely exploration of the city’s vibrant waterfront, a lively district filled with historic sites, shops, and excellent dining options. Stroll along the boardwalk, stopping at local markets and waterfront attractions. If time allows, consider a harbour cruise for stunning views of George’s Island, the iconic lighthouse at McNabs Island, and the bustling harbour.

Step back in time at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, where the sounds of bagpipes and the changing of the guard transport you to the city’s military past. Explore the fort’s star-shaped defences and interactive exhibits, offering insight into Halifax’s role in Canadian history. After your visit, take a stroll through the city’s historic core, stopping at inviting cafés and pubs along the way. Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

Perched atop Citadel Hill with sweeping views over Halifax Harbour, the Halifax Citadel is a living piece of Canadian history. This 19th-century star-shaped fortress, part of a defensive complex that dates back to 1749, invites visitors to wander the stone ramparts, explore its barracks and trace Canada's military heritage inside the Army Museum. Step back in time and meet costumed interpreters who bring to life daily traditions, including marching and band drills on the parade grounds, as well as the firing of the gun at noon every day.
