Day 2

After a delightful breakfast, join Edgar for an exciting Rib boat tour exploring the stunning Varanger fjord. During this thrilling trip you may spot a wide variety of marine life, including seals, eagles and many other types of seabirds that call these waters home during the long summer days. Edgar will make a stop at the Mortensens cultural heritage site, a meeting place for hunters, fishermen and traders for over 10,000 years. Whilst you explore the remnants of turf huts and the oversized sacrificial stones, your guide will prepare coffee and snacks over a camp-fire. Sip your freshly brewed warm drink and let the silence envelope you and the views enthrall you, this really is a special place. After making your way back to the lodge, enjoy an evening sauna and snuggle down with a good book and the midnight sun for company.

Day 3

Time to meet one of the largest crustaceans of the sea, the king crab. Step onboard Edgar’s modern fishing boat and head out to the fishing grounds for an exciting 3 hour safari. Once at Edgars favoured spots you can participate in the king crab fishing, learn all about this world renown creature, get to hold one (cameras at the ready) and try a taste of this delicacy fresh out of the Bering sea. With your feet firmly back on solid ground you have time at leisure to further explore this magnificent part of Northern Norway. Your hosts will be able to make suggestions of trails to explore, where you may see reindeer, elk, arctic fox and other animals.

Day 4

Sadly it is time to leave your little piece of hidden paradise behind and say your farewells to Varanger fjord. It is possible to extend your stay with other delightful properties within the Kirkenes region, ask one of our team to suggest some options and enjoy more of Norway.
