Glamping Husky Adventure

Lights, Camera and Action Packed Holiday in Northern Norway

Northern Norway is an adventure playground, good enough to appear in any action film. You could feel part of the film set too, with several unique experiences and action packed winter activities taking centre stage. Step into your role, taking part in a husky-sledding safari, visiting a reindeer farm and learning about the Sami people, embarking on a Northern Lights chase, staying in fantastic aurora accommodation and overnight in an Ice Hotel to complete this exciting chapter.

The next part of this story is less action, more relaxation. After non-stop adventure you will have time to sit back and enjoy the tranquil setting of Bjornfjell Mountain Lodge, breathing in the crisp fresh air and slowing down to admire the beautiful nature surrounding you. Stay in a very comfortable lodge, away from city lights and perfect for capturing the dancing aurora in your lens, the perfect ending to your winter film set.

Day 2:

After a hearty breakfast, you are transferred on the next leg of your journey, to Sorrisniva Igloo hotel. You will be shown the facilities before taking part in your next mini adventure, Reindeer Sledding and Sami Experience. This will give you a peek into the Sami lifestyle and introduces you to some of their traditions, getting a chance to race along the frozen Alta River on a sled being pulled by a reindeer. Back at the hotel, lunch is included in the Lavvu Restaurant and the afternoon is free to explore the surroundings. In the evening enjoy a 3-course fine dining experience in the restaurant followed by a Hunting the Northern lights experience, taking you out in search of clear skies and the magical aurora. On your return to the hotel, you will be given extra warm sleeping bags and information on how best to ‘sleep on ice’ in one of the Ice rooms.

Day 3:

There are sauna facilities in the adjacent building to the Igloo hotel, helping you to warm up and relax before breakfast. You are then collected and transferred to Bjornfjell Mountain Lodge for the last part of your journey. Located in a wilderness setting, time at the Lodge can be spent doing as little or as much as you like. This is a great place to totally unwind and let the seconds tick by. Find a quiet spot and catch up with a book, play some board games or head to the communal area of the lodge and make some new friends. Once the sun goes down be sure to look to the night sky to catch a glimpse of the dancing aurora. Stay cosy and warm, sitting in your window seat waiting for the lights to make an appearance.

Staying at: Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge

Day 4:

If you prefer to be more active, there are several winter activities to keep you entertained. The Lodge sits next to the Sarves Alta ski resort, home to varied downhill activities with slopes suitable for all levels. There is an activity centre here where you can hire all the equipment needed for time on the slopes, as well as some funtime using sledges, snow tubes, snowshoes and fat bikes. If you wish to plan ahead, all these facilities can be pre-booked with one of our Sales team. Taking advantage of the wilderness location, you may wish to head outdoors on a Polar Night Bonfire Trip. Accompanied by a guide you travel to the top of the mountain where the view takes your breath away and the only company here are the animals that call this land their home. You can help start a bonfire outside a cozy cabin and make a rustic meal over the fire, sitting on reindeer skins learning about mythical tales and stories. And if the sky is clear above there is a chance that the mystical Northern Lights may come out to play.

Day 5:

On your last day in Arctic Norway, there is still time to try Nordic skiing. Suitable for all abilities, you are shown the technique before heading out to explore the wilderness using this traditional method of transport.

Alternatively, you may wish to relax at the lodge. To help you unwind after spending time outside in the snowy conditions, the lodge also has a wellness area, where you can warm up using the sauna and outdoor jacuzzi with views over the surrounding nature. A 2 hour private session is available for an additional charge. Enjoy your final evening, perhaps your last chance for a glimpse of the aurora borealis.

Day 6:

Your action packed holiday comes to an end, with a transfer back to Alta airport for your flight home.

The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon and so we cannot guarantee you will witness it during your trip. The Northern Lights season begins in September and ends during April. Temperatures, colours, snowfall and hours of darkness vary considerably during this period.
