Departure Days: These trips operate from May to October:

  • Rocky Mountaineer operates on a Wednesday or Sunday start.
  • VIA Rail operates on a Tuesday or Saturday start.

Note: The FIFA World Cup is taking place between 11 June – 19 July 2026, with Vancouver and Toronto hosting multiple matches. Hotel availability will be limited in both cities during this period.

ITINERARY

Arrival at Calgary Airport and transfer to Banff via a scheduled shuttle service. Check-in to your hotel and enjoy your first evening in the heart of the Rockies.

Enjoy a full day in Banff - wander through the charming townsite, ride a gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for panoramic views or relax at the Banff Upper Hot Springs.
 
Beyond Banff, a guided tour can help you experience the abundant wildlife and majestic scenery on offer here.
A sightseeing transfer will take you along the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Along the way, you stop at Lake Louise, Crowfoot Glacier and Peyto Lake, before reaching the Columbia Icefield. Here, you board an all-terrain Ice Explorer to ride across the Athabasca Glacier and step out onto the ice. Continue through the Sunwapta Valley, where you pause at Athabasca Falls, before arriving in Jasper in the late afternoon.

Enjoy an unforgettable journey on the icy slopes of the Athabasca Glacier, a 10,000 year old sheet of ice 5 km long and 1 km wide. Your specially designed, all-terrain vehicle will traverse the glacier, while the driver/ guide explains glacier formation and highlights unique geological features. At the icefall below the glacier headwall, you can step out and walk along the ice, and even take the opportunity to fill your water bottle with fresh glacier water.

Explore this relaxed mountain town and its surrounding valley, known for its vast wilderness and rich wildlife, including elk, deer, bears, moose, and mountain goats. Take a scenic cruise or paddle on Maligne Lake, or walk the dramatic canyon trail of Maligne Canyon.

There are plenty of adventures to add-on here, including wildlife tours, an e-bike safari and river rafting experiences.

Board The Canadian train at 09:30 for an overnight journey to Vancouver in Sleeper Plus Class. Relax in your private sleeping cabin and enjoy fine dining in the elegant dining car. In the Skyline and Park car lounges, take in panoramic views of the Rockies, with bar service available throughout the day.

Wake up to the changing landscapes of British Columbia as you approach the Pacific Coast. The Canadian arrives in Vancouver at 08:00. After collecting your baggage, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city.

Discover Vancouver’s vibrant neighbourhoods, from historic Gastown to the waterfront at Coal Harbour. Take a walk through Stanley Park, visit Granville Island’s artisan markets, or explore the lively streets of Yaletown.

Optional excursions to add-on here include a kayak or paddle along the Vancouver shoreline, savouring local delicacies on a walking food tour or a walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, surrounded by temperate rainforest.
