ITINERARY

Depart Halifax at midday and make your way to Glenora, either with our optional transfer or independently. Settle into your first accommodation and relax after your journey. In the evening, immerse yourself in Cape Breton’s musical heritage with live performances often following dinner, offering a memorable start to your Nova Scotia adventure.

Your day begins with a scenic ride along a rail trail to the village of Inverness, known for its beaches and views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Continue along Broad Cove Banks, stopping at two beautiful beaches before reaching Margaree Harbour. Shorter routes include a transfer from Belle Côte, while longer rides follow the Acadian coastline to Chéticamp. The route along the Cabot Trail features stunning coastal vistas, and the town itself offers perfect opportunities for hiking, swimming and even whale spotting from Chéticamp Island’s cliffs. In the evening, enjoy one of the town’s excellent restaurants, renowned for its fresh seafood.

Today’s ride takes you through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, with options to adjust the distance and terrain using transfers. Shorter rides finish at MacIntosh Brook, while the longer route includes two mountain climbs, reaching 430 m (1,400 ft). The reward is breathtaking scenery, with forested slopes leading to panoramic ocean views and thrilling descents through serene valleys. Cycling through the national park is one of the highlights of this Nova Scotia adventure, offering a mix of challenge and dramatic coastal vistas.

The longer route follows dramatic coastal roads, offering expansive ocean views along the way. Finish the day in Ingonish, with options to swim, visit waterfalls, relax on sandy beaches, or play a round at Highland Links, one of Canada’s top golf courses.

Your Cabot Trail cycling tour continues today with an early climb over Cape Smokey, or you can ease the challenge with a transfer over the summit. As you ride southward, the terrain opens into gentler, rolling farmland punctuated by coastal vistas. Perhaps stop at a charming café in a remote setting for lunch before finishing the day in peaceful North River, set above St. Anne’s Bay.

Conclude your adventure in Nova Scotia with this morning's ride, taking you to the lakeside town of Baddeck. Here you can visit the Gaelic College Great Hall of the Clans Museum or explore the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. Bell’s Silver Dart airplane took flight here around the same time as the Wright brothers’ Kitty Hawk. Enjoy lunch at one of the town’s cafés or restaurants of your choice before taking an afternoon transfer back to Halifax.
