KVIKNES HOTEL
HISTORIC FJORD RESORT
History, art, and natural beauty combine at the Kviknes Hotel in Balestrand, on the Sognefjord in Fjord Norway. First opened in 1752, this Swiss-style family-run hotel offers guests easy access to the longest and deepest fjord in Norway.
Sleep Well
Guests can stay in the historic section of the hotel, or in the modern area dating back to the 1960s. Historic rooms and suites offer their own unique character, while the modern rooms are more standardized. All are ensuite, comfortably furnished and have a view of the fjord.
Eat Well
Buffet meals and four-course dinners, created using local ingredients wherever possible, are served in the elegant dining room overlooking the fjord. An extensive wine list of more than 300 wines is available.
Play Well
Explore the stunning Sognefjord by boat, take a walk in the spectacular Esefjella mountains, travel the steep Flåm Railway through magnificent scenery, experience the majesty of Jostedal Glacier National Park, or discover the cultural delights of Balestrand village.
Be Well
Take a relaxing stroll through the hotel and admire the plethora of romantic artwork collected over four generations that now graces the walls of every hallway. The Høyvik Room in particular showcases the life’s work of Ivar Høyvik, a Finnish craftsman and wood carver.
