Often clients are unsure about which country to travel to in their quest to view the Aurora Borealis. Here we offer a brief summary of each destination and some links to a selection of our best selling trips.

The glass igloo at Kakslauttanen Resort in Finland

Why Finland? Cosy log cabins, a warm welcome and budget friendly options characterise our Aurora holidays in Finland. A luxury log cabin tucked away in the forest with a bubbling hot tub is a hit with honeymooners and couples in love. Meanwhile just a few miles down the road (and through the forest), the success of our short break at Menesjarvi is down to one lady and her husband who continually win the hearts of all our clients who have visited - young and old alike (thank you Anne). Finland at its best. Search for Northern Lights holidays in Finland

Lyngen Lodge in Norway

Why Norway? Where to start. We’re in love with the Norwegian way of life. Their relaxed attitude and respect for nature are important elements that can have a positive influence on our holidays here. The standard of food in restaurants and hotels is gaining momentum as is the rise of Nordic cuisine. So Norway can be a treat for foodies. The restaurant at the Alta Igloo ice hotel is one such destination home to a very talented chef. On the other side of the Alps, Lyngen Lodge is a cosy option in high demand. Its high standard of accommodation, wonderful setting and great food is hard to beat in our opinion. Search for Northern Lights holidays in Norway

The tree hotel in Sweden

Why Sweden? Always the innovators, the Swedes have been the ones to try new ways to welcome guests whether in the icy cold walls of the Ice Hotel or suspended from the trees at Lulea’s Tree Hotel (pictured right). Their passion for the outdoors is palpable and offers some fantastic wilderness experiences in all of our destinations throughout Northern Sweden. The Abisko Sky Station has become a popular hub for Northern Lights chasers and we've put together holidays that combine Abisko with other locations in Arctic Sweden and across the border to Norway and Finland. Search for Northern Lights holidays in Sweden

Hotel Ranga in Iceland

Why Iceland? A geologist’s paradise, Iceland is like nowhere else on earth. If you’re looking for wild and rugged terrain and a certain element of the unknown, Iceland could be for you. We’ll help you to venture off the beaten track and meet some amazing characters along the way.  It’s also a great destination for a short break with good flight connections and a popular spa break to keep all members of the family happy. Search for Northern Lights holidays in Iceland

“The aurora borealis sends its flashes and streamers of light high up towards the zenith, and there are days when the electric storm culminates in a corona of gorgeous colour, presenting a spectacle never to be forgotten. I have travelled in many lands and within the tropics, but I have never seen such glorious nights as those of winter in ‘the land of the Midnight Sun.’”

Paul B. Du Chaillu, 1899

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
